🏃♀️🏃♂️Cork City Marathon Weekend - 31st May 2026
Cork City Marathon is always one of the highlights of the running calendar. The atmosphere, the crowds, and the incredible support around every corner make it a special day for runners of all abilities. As a local club, hearing your name shouted out throughout the course gives you that extra lift when it's needed most.
🟡🟡This year felt particularly poignant.
The sea of yellow jerseys around the course was a powerful sight. Following the tragic loss of Ellen during last year's Half Marathon, it was a reminder to all of us how fortunate we are to be able to pull on our runners and stand on a start line once again. The emotional tribute to Ellen by her mother before the race was beautifully done and a moment that won't be forgotten by those who were there.🟡🟡
Bridevale AC was proudly represented by 14 members across the Half Marathon and 10km events, with some fantastic performances throughout the day.

Whether you are there to shout his name, clap him, on the back or even run a few kilometres alongside him would be greatly appreciated and will help keep the spirits high over what promises to be a tough but inspiring five days.
We are all in awe of you Terry and wish you the best of luck over the next few days!!!

Bartlemy 6km Fun Run ☀️🏃♀️
“Fun Run” might have been slightly misleading considering the hills and the heat… but it turned out to be a brilliant morning all the same!
A tough little course with plenty of climbing, warm conditions, and lots of tired legs by the finish line. Thankfully the atmosphere made up for it. Huge credit to the Parents Association for a fabulous spread afterwards and for running such a well organised event.
A lovely local one to do with the kids too… even if some of them have no issue beating you to the finish line 😳
Brendan Walsh 22.33
Dave Collins 23:20
Teddy Hornibrook 27:32
Vinnie Murphy 28:38
Deirdre O'Connor 28:44
Kieran Wolfe 34:27

Ballintotis 4 Mile – 24th April 🏃♂️
Six of the lads took on the ever-popular Ballintotis 4 Mile on a beautiful dry spring evening — and as always, they delivered. Big crowd, great atmosphere, and that all-important spread afterwards. There was some unoffical pacers on the course keeping a close eye on Teddy Hornibrook which pushed him to getting another PB!! 🔥 👏
Results:
James Murphy – 23:26
David Collins – 24:08
Jim O’Connor – 24:40
Brendan Walsh – 27:08
Tomas Kearney – 27:27
Teddy Hornibrook – 27:48

Another busy spell for Bridevale runners with a mix of distances and locations.
Dave Collins kept his strong run of form going at the BHAA Cork 5km Series (15/4/26), clocking 18:39.
Brendan Walsh stepped up to The Great Railway Run 25km (19/4/26), finishing in a superb 1:43:04.
And further afield, Ciarán Stone took the Bridevale singlet all the way to Perth, lining out in a 10km and flying the flag proudly
Different races, different distances, same comitments.
Well done lads! 👏

🏃♀️The Cobh 10 mile took place yesterday and as always, it delivered in every way. A firm favourite for Anna Hogan, who this year brought along two first-timers, Deirdre O’Connor and Annette Murphy to experience it for themselves!
From the moment you arrive, there’s just a different feel to this race. Sunshine, sea views, music playing, crowds out cheering — and even a sighting of Sonia O'Sullivan adding to the buzz.
And yes… the race itself is tough.
Hilly. Properly hilly.
As the mug says: “It’s hilly… get over it.”
But just when the legs are starting to give up, you’re rewarded with that beautiful downhill into the finish — the kind that carries you home whether you like it or not.
Tough course, no doubt. Not one for chasing PBs.
But for atmosphere, scenery and a genuinely wholesome day out… it’s hard to beat. Hopefully there will be a few more Bridevale representatives there next year! 😁 💙💖
Results:
Anna Hogan – 1:20:25
Deirdre O’Connor – 1:23:04
Annette Murphy – 1:29:53

🏆 After smashing a sub-3 hour Dublin Marathon, most would be happy to sit back for a while… not Brendan Walsh. Instead, he went looking for a new challenge and stepped into the world of Hyrox — and today, he didn’t just compete… he won the Men’s Singles outright. Massive achievement Brendan, well done! 👏
