After a fantastic weekend of Pitch and Putt, the National Matchplay has come to a close and what a weekend it was!
On behalf of Bishopstown Pitch and Putt Club, we would like to sincerely thank the Pitch and Putt Ireland for entrusting us with the hosting of such a prestigious event. Over the past 24 months, our team has worked tirelessly to present the course in the very best condition possible. Opportunities like this do not come around often, but we are ready and looking forward to the next time the PPI calls on us to host a major event. β³οΈ
To all the players and supporters who turned out in great numbers throughout the weekend, thank you for your support. We hope you enjoyed the course and the atmosphere that made the event so special.
A special word of thanks must go to Paudie and Gary OβSullivan. The work these two gentlemen do for the game is invaluable, and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done to help bring our course to the outstanding condition it was in this weekend.
Our Club Captain, Sean Looney, along with the support of our members, has also put in tremendous effort to bring the course to the high standard it enjoys today. Their dedication has not gone unnoticed.
Above all, congratulations to all of todayβs winners in Rocklodge. There were some exceptional performances on display and the competition was a credit to everyone involved.
Bishopstown players were proudly represented throughout the weekend, and the club is immensely proud of the battles fought and the commitment shown by each of you. Congratulations to all who took part.
We also have a selection of photos from the weekend, kindly provided by John Hurley, so sit back and enjoy the memories!

πββοΈ Cork City Marathon - Sunday 31st May
Heading to Bishopstown for the National Matchplay? The marathon route passes right through the general area so roads will be chaos. Here's how to get there without losing your mind! π
β Roads to avoid (closed 09:30β14:30)
* Western Road β expect massive tailbacks all the way to Victoria Cross
* Wilton Road β local traffic only
* College Road β fully closed
* Model Farm Road β closed from Farranlea Park junction
* Magazine Road, Orchard Road & Farranlea Road β all closed or Garda controlled
β
The route to use: Sarsfield Road β South City Link. The South City Link is open all day and is the officially recommended alternative. Both Western Road AND Wilton Road signs will direct you this way anyway, so just go straight there!
β° Best times to travel:
* π’ Before 9:30am β grand, no restrictions yet
* π΄ 9:30amβ2:30pm β worst period, avoid if you can
* π‘ After 2:30pm β roads starting to reopen, much better
π‘ Worst time of all is 12:00β1:30pm, that's when the bulk of runners are finishing up and road closures are still in full effect around the whole south side.
Plan ahead and you'll be fine! π
