In order to run our race safely we need your help. Whether you can commit to an hour, or you have decided to come and support our athletes, you will have a front row seat to the action. If you are available to help out at any time on the 9th of August between approximately 8:30am and 2pm please DM us with your name and number.

Stewards.

1. There will be approximately 10 stewards available at the start area and these stewards will proceed to the finish area once the race has commenced.

2. Stewards will be placed as follows:

Breton Road Roundabout – to control any traffic coming off the by-pass and heading to town via Tallow Street and to allow any traffic coming from town out and away (1)

Lower Brown Street – to ensure no vehicles will get on the route (2)

Quays Bar – Stopping traffic coming from the car park at the rear of the Quays bar (3 & 4)

Grotto – to ensure athletes are on the correct route (5)

End of Hayman’s Hill – (6) – to aid Water station

Cross of Windmill Hill and Ashe Street – to send all Local Access traffic along Ashe Street towards Church Street. (7)

Top of Brown Street – (8) – Ensure runners keep on course

Summerfield Cross – To divert LGV’s from entering town, and ensure athletes keep on the route, With help of Gardai (9)

Golf Links Road – To divert traffic up the Golf Links Road and away from race route. To stop traffic looking to cross race route to get to Front Strand Area / Aura via McCurtainstown. With help of Gardai (10)

End of Greenway Section (Bog Road) – keep runners on route, ensure no cars pass barriers on closed road (11)

End of Bog Road / R634 Junction – keep runners on route, ensure no cars pass barriers on closed road With help of Gardai (13)

Walter Raleigh Hotel – to control any traffic leaving the car parks, ensure the one-way system is obeyed and to man the water stations. (14)

Moll Goggins Corner – to control any traffic coming from or going to the Walter Raleigh Hotel and also emergency vehicles (15)

Bottom of Hilltop – prevent cars crossing runners path (16)

Entrance/Exit Inver Filling Station – prevent cars crossing runners path (17)

An easy ride on a very safe purpose-built route - ideal for beginners or experts to enjoy a short out and back at their own pace and for a great cause.
Every rider gets a special edition water bottle and goodie bag and the first 200 entrants get a set of bike lights...not to mention a special treat for all finishers.
This is NOT a race! It's a leisurely ride with friends in small groups - Go as far as you like as fast as you like and don't forget to stop for a coffee and a chat along the way.

On Saturday 8th August 2026, Youghal RNLI proudly presents a Fun Cycle on the local greenway which follows the path of the old railway line through the heart of East Cork, connecting the towns and villages of Youghal, Killeagh, Mogeely, and Midleton🙌

You can ride any distance, at whatever pace you wish, starting and finishing at the Youghal Trailhead where Event HQ will have Goodie Bags, refreshments and a few other surprises waiting for you when you return⚓️🚴‍♂️

The first group of riders will depart Youghal at 8am and small groups will depart every few minutes afterwards throughout the day. Last departure at 5pm.

This year we are teaming up with Youghal Athletics Club who will be hosting their Youghal Bay 10K and Half Marathon on Sunday (9th Aug).
About the RNLI
In 2025 lifeboats across the island of Ireland launched 967 times from its 46 lifeboat stations, bringing 912 people to safety, 17 of whom were lives saved. 280 of those launches were carried out in the hours of darkness.

Our volunteer crews are always ready to respond to a call for help but we can only do what we do thanks to the public’s generosity. Every launch represents someone in urgent need — and our volunteers drop everything to help.

Events like this fun cycle are simple, safe opportunities for the public to get behind what we do and ensure we have the equipment and training needed for whatever comes next.

About the Greenway
The new 23km Greenway is a paved cycleway providing a safe, accessible and attractive route on an easy gradient, which is suitable for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Event Guidelines
Bikes must be roadworthy, and helmets must be worn.
The last bikes must be off the trail by 8pm.
Sweeper vehicles, safety marshals and aid stations will be in place along the route, as well as medical and technical support for the duration.

Finally, if you don’t have a bike you can hire one at a special event discounted rate from one of the local bike shops (linked from the Eventbrite registration page).
