12 months from today, where will you be if nothing changes?

Not where you hope you'll be.
Not where you plan to be.
Where will you realistically be if you keep repeating the same habits you're repeating right now?

If weekends continue to undo the hard work you put in Monday to Friday?
If takeaways continue to become the reward after a stressful week?
If every Monday becomes another "fresh start"?
If every setback becomes a reason to quit?
If every social event leaves you saying, "I'll get back on track tomorrow"?

What will your health look like?
What will your confidence look like?
What will your energy look like?
What will your relationship with food look like?

The next 12 months are going to pass anyway.
The question is whether you'll be looking back proud of the habits you built or frustrated that another year slipped by while you were waiting for the perfect time to start!

You don't need to be perfect. You don't need to overhaul your entire life overnight. But you do need to decide whether you want the next 12 months to look different from the last 12.

So ask yourself:
If nothing changes, where will you be this time next year?

And more importantly...
Are you happy with that answer?

There was a time when I genuinely didn't like how I looked.

Not because I was overweight but because I was skinny.

The first photo in this carousel is me a few months back.

The second photo is me years ago when I felt frustrated every time I looked in the mirror.

At the time, I convinced myself I wanted to build muscle and change my physique but when I look back now, my actions didn't match my goals.

I wasn't training hard enough.
I wasn't eating enough.
I wasn't prioritising recovery.
I was spending more time socialising and drinking than I was investing in my health.
I wanted a different result while continuing to do the same things.

The turning point wasn't finding the perfect training programme or diet. It was being honest with myself. I realised that if I wanted my body to change, my habits had to change first. So I started taking training more seriously. I learned how to train with intent instead of simply showing up.
I spent years eating in a calorie surplus to build muscle.

I went through fat loss phases when needed.
I learned that progress isn't about staying lean all year round or constantly chasing the next goal.

It's about understanding that different phases serve different purposes. Some phases are for building. Some are for maintaining. Some are for losing body fat.

All of them are part of the journey.
The biggest lesson I've learned is that transformation rarely comes from one big decision.
It comes from hundreds of small decisions repeated consistently over time. The person in the second photo didn't need a better body.
He needed better habits but firstly a reality check. He needed to feel annoyed when looking in the mirror to finally take a bit of action and change.

The body came afterwards.
If you're currently looking at yourself the same way I looked at myself back then, just remember:
You don't have to become a completely different person overnight (because you won't). You just need to start acting like the person you want to become. Then keep doing it long enough for the results to catch up.

Years later, that's exactly what happened for me.

Change takes time.

The biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight?

They try to be perfect. Perfect nutrition. Perfect workouts. Perfect routines.

And when life inevitably gets in the way, they convince themselves they've failed. But they actually didn't. They could just accept that life happens and get back on the horse.

One meal out or take away becomes a full weekend of binging. One missed workout becomes a week without training. One setback becomes a reason to quit.

This is exactly why I don't coach people that way. In my coaching program, I teach people how to be 80-90% consistent instead of 100% perfect.

Because perfection isn't sustainable.

Real life includes: Meals out, social occasions, busy work weeks, family commitments, kids are sick etc etc.

The goal isn't to avoid these situations it's to learn how to navigate them while still moving forward!

When you stop chasing perfection, something powerful happens:

You become more consistent.
You build habits that actually last.
You stop feeling guilty every time things don't go exactly to plan.
And most importantly, you finally stop starting over every Monday.

The people who get the best results aren't the people who are "all in." So why do you try to be?

They're the people who keep showing up, even when things aren't perfect.

As I always tell me my clients, being consistently decent will always be better than being occasionally perfect 💪

Drop a 🔥 below if you've ever found yourself stuck in the all-or-nothing mindset.

Episode 28 of the Attitude First Podcast is out Monday at 6am.

This week I discuss how I maintain a strong mindset and as seen in this clip, how I regulate myself when I wake up in the morning to increase the likelihood of feeling good every day.

Too many people wake up feeling flat, sad or grumpy and just leave themselves in that state. It does not need to stay that way.

Check out episode 28 on Monday to see how I help clients make genuine change using the 3 C's framework too.

Tracking isn't meant to be a chore. If you feel it is, you're probably doing it wrong (logging as you go daily). There's nothing worse than having to jump on an app 5-6 times a day. If that's why you don't track, you were simply using tracking apps wrong in the first place...

Tracking is a very useful tool when done right and in this case, we used it temporarily for data to help a client understand that she was under eating.

By tracking, we got data. And we used that data to get rid of her food noise and improve her energy levels.

It’s not just fat loss.

It’s not just calories.

It’s not just “eat less and move more.”

Tracking as a tool, not a punishment.

And it speaks to people who are:

1. constantly thinking about food
2. tired all the time
3. training poorly
4. trying to eat intuitively but still struggling
5. afraid that tracking means restriction

The key message:

Sometimes food noise isn’t a discipline issue. Sometimes it’s a data issue.

I get some clients to use Tracking apps and I add them as a friend on the app. This way, I can oversee what they're eating, they can feel held accountable and they can still be flexible with their nutrition 🍕

Don't hate tracking.

Use it to your advantage 💪
