Massive congrats to our awesome Mizen2Malin gang who have literally cycled the length of Ireland over the last four days.

Here’s a flavour of the last day, including the 2 early punctures 😩😩
But on they motored, clocking up the final 140km to complete a total of 573km.

These were miles that mattered more than most because our club’s first M2M was also a fundraiser to support Derrick Cunningham, a friend who is continuing his road to recovery after a serious spinal injury 8 months ago.
Having Derrick’s family there at spectacular Malin Head to welcome us across the finish-line made it very special & we are thrilled that our hardy M2M gang have raised €60,000+ so far! Phenomenal work on & off the bikes 💪💪💪

Massive, massive congrats to our awesome Mizen2Malin gang.

They’re across the finish-line, finally home ‘n hosed, tired ‘n hungry but absolutely buzzin after racking up 573km (356 miles) in four days.

They have literally cycled the length of Ireland & also raised €58,982 so far to help Derrick Cunningham continue his Road to Recovery.
It was just wonderful to be welcomed & surrounded by Derrick’s extended family at the finish in the spectacular landscape at the top of the Inishowen peninsula

Trips like this don’t just take a lot of training & sweat. They involve loads of logistics, planning and teamwork so thanks to everyone who pitched in to make it as great as it was.

That’s what great clubs do.
is small but mighty & we’re lucky to have such great members.

Trips like these create memories for life & strengthen our bonds. This one has also created an unbreakable bond also between Kildare Cycling Club, Derrick, Ethna, David & Sean and all of the extended Cunningham family.

Everyone who took part is now officially a KCC legend and we can’t wait to hear all the stories ye’ll be sharing on our next Sunday spins🥰🙌

Last day and they’re off!!
Three days and 430km later our hardy Mizen2Malin Road To Recovery gang have set out on a testing final 143km to reach the most northerly tip of our beautiful island.

It’s not the longest day of the trip but this final leg is the hilliest, with 1400m of climbing.
The final kicker is a short 11% ramp right before the finish-line in Malin Head which will surely get everyone out of the saddle one last time.😖😱

But it’s been sooo worth it!
While they’ve been clocking up the miles the fundraiser has kept clocking up the euros.
Donations to support Derrick (Cunningham) on his road to recovery have already climbed to €57,678!

Just one day left!!!
Three days and 430km later our hardy Mizen2Malin Road To Recovery gang are still going strong.

Today’s third 160km leg started in Birr with a group photo outside Maria’s camper-van. It was a bit rainy to start but dried up & word has it that Simon’s tan was undiluted.

Longford provided today’s lunch stop and later the lead car captured some great video showing just how fast this lot can motor on clear, flat roads.

There was one puncture today but that’s only the second so far 😃- hence all the happy heads on them as they all landed safely into Enniskillen around 6:45pm.

While they’ve been clocking up the miles the fundraiser has kept clocking up the euros and donations have climbed to €57,578 by now!
🙌 & 💚 to everyone riding, their great support team & every single person & business that has donated so far.

Tomorrow’s fourth leg is not the longest (143km) but has the most climbing (1400m) so it will be one tough mudder of a final day, including a nasty little 11% ramp right before the finish-line in Malin Head😩

We hear everyone is already tucked up in their Tadej Pogačar pyjamas tonight, getting in plenty of 😴 ahead of the final big push and early 8:30 start.

May the wind be behind ye now all the way to the finish-line.

They’re off again!
It’s Day 3 of our Mizen2Malin Road To Recovery Challenge and the gang are now starting to feel the accumulating miles.
They’ll cover 160km today with 1250m of climbing and already have 270km in their legs (and backsides 😖)

As they travel from Birr to Enniskillen they will actually travel through six (yes SIX!) different counties today: Offaly, Westmeath, Longford, Leitrim, Cavan & Fermanagh!!!😱
(There’s a country & western song in there surely..could someone please get our resident poet Keith McCormack on the job).

As they continue to climb so too has the fundraising for Derrick’s Road to Recovery - it was up to €53,992 when they set out today - UNREAL!

Day 2 & 180km logged, bring total in 48 hours to 270km 🤗👊
It started with a nice easy 5km climb of 6% out of Ballyvourney 🫪and covered four counties (Cork, Limerick, Tipp & Offaly) before the gang finished in Birr.
Who needs the Vuelta when these lads and lass produce such perfect group formation😍
And at the end they had their own Directeur Sportif Eamonn there to round them home safely.
Top work everyone - keep her lit💪👊👏
Fundraising has almost reached €51,000 &, like yer selves, is still climbing!
What an achievement by everyone involved.🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

DAY 2 Mizen2Malin Road to Recovery Update

Everyone got through today’s 180km-long second leg safely and landed in Birr for the night after a marvellous day’s riding from our 14 heroes💪

They’ve now got a minimum of 270km in their legs😮 & tomorrow’s third day is another serious stretch - 160km.
That’ll take them across the border into Fermanagh for the third stop on Enniskillen. Fortunately passports aren’t needed because they don’t want anything extra slowing them down, not even a credit card.

Well done everyone!💪
Every kilometre cycled and every euro matters on this challenge to support Derrick and people are right behind you & him.
While ye were pushing yourselves to the limit up that early hill this morning your fundraiser passed the €50,000 mark and is now almost up to €51,000 🙌 🥳
Your effort is truly being matched by people’s generosity and everyone involved is playing an absolute blinder.

Y’all deserved a few good pints & loadsa desserts tonight - plenty of rehydration & sugar will keep those wheels rolling for the next two days.
