🇮🇪🎯 EUROPE CUP SUCCESS FOR DONEGAL DARTS! 🎯🇮🇪
A massive well done and congratulations to two of our own Donegal players, Gerard McGlynn and Denise Cassidy, on an incredible week at the Europe Cup representing the Republic of Ireland! 🇮🇪💚💛
Both Gerard and Denise put in some fantastic performances throughout the competition and did Donegal Darts proud on the European stage! 👏🎯
🏆 GERARD McGLYNN
Gerard had a fantastic tournament, not only representing Ireland but also taking on the responsibility of captaining the Republic of Ireland Men’s Team. 🇮🇪👏
In the Men’s Singles, Gerard battled his way through to the Quarter-Finals, where he came up against Scotland’s Mitchell Lawrie. Unfortunately, Gerard’s run came to an end at that stage, but reaching the last eight of such a major competition is a fantastic achievement! 👏🎯
In the Men’s Pairs, Gerard teamed up with fellow Irishman Raymond Mulvey, with the pair producing another strong run and reaching the Last 32 before eventually being defeated by Welsh opposition Llew Beaven and David Davies.
But Gerard wasn’t finished there… 👀🇮🇪
As captain, Gerard helped guide the Republic of Ireland Men’s Team all the way to EUROPE CUP GLORY! 🏆🇮🇪
Ireland produced an outstanding performance in the final, defeating England 9–2 to be crowned European Cup Champions! 🏆🎯🇮🇪
An absolutely brilliant achievement for Gerard, his teammates and the entire Irish team — and what a moment for Gerard to be lifting the trophy as captain! 🏆👏
🎯 DENISE CASSIDY
Denise also had a fantastic Europe Cup, representing Ireland and once again showing exactly why she is one of Donegal’s leading players. 🇮🇪💚💛
In the Ladies’ Singles, Denise battled her way through to the Last 64, where she faced England’s Pauline Page.
In the Ladies’ Pairs, Denise teamed up with Becca Allen, and the pair produced a brilliant run all the way to the Quarter-Finals. Their run eventually came to an end against Swedish opposition Anna Forsmark and Snezana Vejikoic, but reaching the last eight of the competition was a fantastic achievement! 👏🎯
And Denise’s biggest run of the tournament came in the Ladies’ Team Event.
The Irish Ladies put together a brilliant campaign and reached the FINAL, setting up a huge showdown against England! 🇮🇪🏆
Unfortunately, after an incredibly close contest, the final went all the way to a last-leg decider, where Ireland were narrowly beaten by England. 💔🎯
While the result wasn’t what Denise and her teammates wanted, reaching the European Cup Final is still a phenomenal achievement and something they can be extremely proud of! 👏🇮🇪
🇮🇪💚💛 DONEGAL TO THE WORLD!
From reaching the latter stages of the singles and pairs events, to Gerard captaining the Men’s Team to European Cup glory, and Denise helping guide the Ladies Team all the way to the final, it was a fantastic showing from both of our Donegal representatives.
You both represented Donegal Darts and the Republic of Ireland with huge pride throughout the competition. 🇮🇪🎯
A massive congratulations to Gerard McGlynn and Denise Cassidy — two brilliant representatives of Donegal Darts who continue to make us all proud! 👏💚💛
And a huge congratulations to all the Irish players, captains, selectors and staff involved in what was an incredible Europe Cup for Ireland. 🇮🇪🏆
Gerard — European Cup Champion! 🏆🇮🇪
Denise — European Cup Finalist! 🥈🇮🇪
What an achievement! 🎯🔥
