Had a good putting lesson with an Elm Park member today - a few key points to take away from the pictures above:

- Length of stroke: I’m always a fan of a ‘long to short’ stroke or 3:2 on the station seen in the picture. For this player in particular, it allowed him to release the clubhead properly Set up:
- From Down the line, we can see changes in posture with the player having being more tilted, more stability in his knees giving him a stronger base, this in turn creates more space around the pelvic area and matched the forearm better with the shaft (I’d constantly be asking a player if they feel comfortable when changing posture when it comes to putting, as if they’re not comfortable it’s far less likely to be sustainable)
- From face on, we can see because of the forward tilt in posture his chest covers the ball better. His stance generally got wider as a result of this stronger base. A big thing for me here would be how the elbows have now flexed into a more natural position, giving the player a better chance to stroke it better.

Lots of different ways to roll a ball, but these changes certainly give him a better chance.

It’s great to see some of the girls I coached from the girls scholarship .golf.club doing so well and now competing in club championships. Hayley in particular was 45.1 handicap in 2022 when she started getting lessons, I’ve been told she’s now dropped to 13.8 at only 14 years old. Massive change in a year and a half
