Leitrim PPN

Leitrim PPN Leitrim PPN is a structure that brings together Community and Voluntary, Environmental and Social Inclusion groups in the local authority area.

Leitrim Public Participation Network (PPN) is an independent network of community, voluntary, social inclusion and environmental organisations, working to build a better county for the community of Leitrim. Leitrim PPN is a network that allows local authorities and other agencies to connect with community groups around the county. The purpose of the PPN is to allow these groups to give input and have their voices heard within the formal decision-making structures of Leitrim County Council. Whenever the local authority needs people to participate in consultations or sit on the committees that form policies it will call on the PPN to select these people by holding elections from amongst its members. It does not cost anything to register with the PPN and we encourage all eligible voluntary, community and environmental groups to register. Who can join Leitrim PPN
To join the PPN, a group must:
• Be active in Leitrim County
• Have more than five (5) members
• Be non-party political and non-sectarian
• Have a minimum of six months in existence

The benefits of joining Leitrim PPN
• Valuable local and regional networking opportunities
• Greater access to regular community news and information through our social media & e bulletin
• The opportunity to advertise members activities via the PPN newsletter & social media
• Highlighting of Training and Funding opportunities, Consultations & Submissions
• Potential to influence policy making decisions relevant to County Leitrim
• Linkage Groups will be formed in 2023. Linkage Groups bring together organisations with a common interest
to discuss their views and interests in a specific policy area linked to Committee or Boards with PPN Representation. Each Member Group is encouraged to join one or more of the PPN’s Linkage Groups. Leitrim PPN is funded by the Department of Community and Rural Development and Leitrim County Council and hosted by Leitrim Development Company in Drumshanbo.

This week is Sustainable Development Goals Week 2026!🌼🌻

Ireland’s fifth Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week. ☀️

The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. The SDG's belong to everyone and SDG Week is open to all – individuals, groups, schools and colleges, businesses and institutions. 🌈

At a local level, the ongoing work of many community and voluntary groups are quietly supporting the implementation of the SDG's in our community and the overall ambitions of the SDG's are truly international in scale and scope 💙💚💛❤️🧡💜🤎🩵🩷

Two important dates are coming up for Ireland’s community and voluntary sector, with conferences taking place in September and October.

First up is the National PPN Conference, hosted by Roscommon Public Participation Network at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone on September 24–25.

Now in its eighth year, the conference will bring together people involved with PPNs, local authority staff, elected representatives and others to network, share ideas and showcase the work being done by PPNs around the country.

Then, on October 15, the National Disability Authority will hold its annual conference, both online and in person at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. This year’s conference will focus on disability-inclusive responses to emergencies, in line with Article 11 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Are you planning to attend either of these conferences? What issues would you like to see discussed?

🏛️ COMMUNITY HERITAGE GRANT SCHEME 2027 – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NOW OPEN! 🌿

Are you a community or voluntary group with an idea that could help protect, conserve, celebrate, understand or share Ireland’s heritage? 🇮🇪

The Heritage Council Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2027 is now open for Expressions of Interest, with grants of between €800 and €25,000 available.

🤝 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

💶 Funding available:

🗓️ Expression of Interest deadline: 16 October 2026 at 5.00pm

📢 Stage 1 results: Early November 2026
📝 Full application deadline for shortlisted applicants: 15 January 2027 at 5.00pm
