The Hill FC

Well, that’s it. AUL season’s over. Kaput. Right when we were getting into our stride (we weren’t).
It may look sugarcoated but plain and simply, what an absolute disaster. Things started well with trainings and some results, but things unravelled and well, we were out of our depth! Shoutout Luiz Redoglia, who was without a doubt our most passionate player (who also ended up with no minutes), shoutout Darndale who gave us a 0-7 reality check (we had 5 wingers on and no 6), shoutout Tadhg who finished as our top scorer, shoutout Chris Murphy for putting in the graft when we needed him (unfortunately in any position), shoutout the refs who keep Specsavers and Anger Management classes in business, shoutout the many fine well accomplished groundsmen across the league for the absolute carpets we got to grace, shoutout Evan and Conor who may never walk again (or something), shoutout all the dropouts within an hour of kickoff (big help).

But look, we gave it a shot, learned many lessons, and now, we return to where our bread was buttered. Pity how things went considering how competitive we were in many of those games, but Hill isn’t about all that serious bu****it, let’s go back to the comedic bu****it.

Over the last few weeks, it slipped the schedule, but we’ve reached our 9th year as a club. The many shades of Hill pictured in years gone by.

⚽️ Tadhg O’Reilly

Tough loss on the road, great performance slim numbers, Bobby doing very well in net as well as a strong debut from Archie Morrison. Glad for Tadhg to grab another goal but a game we can put behind us. Cup next 🧡

Starting 2026 thinking of 2024

Despite an early exit against Darndale due to injury, Evan Flynn became the first player in the club’s history to make 100 appearances for a single team ⭐️

Evan joined the club at 18 years of age and has been part of every shade of Hill in existence, slotting into the back line straight away and never looking back. Evan made 96 UCD Superleague Appearances, and grabbed a further 4 games in the AUL before suffering an injury, but Evan has been every part of every piece of success we’ve tasted along the way, making 22 appearances for the sides second team and taking part in every trophy win the club has had 🧡

All things must come to an end, and after a few weeks of tough to swallow losses, we’ve bounced back in perfect fashion with our performance of the season. A squad missing plenty of heavy hitters put on a show today, Charlie and Tadhg linking up and a brilliant touch and turn finish from Charlie got us up and running. It wasn’t long before Charlie was back involved again as he won the ball back playing Chris Murphy, who calmly slotted his first goal of the season to put us two up. From then on, the opposition bled chances as we kept football in their half, a corner headed on by Tadhg found Lorcan who slotted his first goal in THREE YEARS to put us three goals to the good coming into halftime.
As switched on and as good as the first half in the second, there would be no more goals, and we’d like to wish a speedy recovery to the Mulhuddart player who went down with a bad injury.
An all round fantastic performance to bounce us back 🧡

We return to league action next weekend against Mulhuddart FC 🧡
