The weather definitely is right for this, but I'll take a walk year round to get away from screens, noise, and just let my brain wander a bit. Enjoy the long weekend to my Irish teammates!!

Almost 3 years ago at the KCC Summer Plus Seminar (where BCS was one of the styles shared with the overall group) and I can still remember how hot Alicante felt, especially when completing a level examination. 😅

I think no matter what, the sign you are in a good space with a good group is when it's all said and done, you can still see the smiles and the relaxed presence. Definitely something we strive for, work hard, but enjoy the people you are working with!

Movement can be grounding.
Slow, rhythmic, predictable. The kind of movement regulation your system can settle into.

I really enjoy sliding back into Aikibojitsu, where the study is on searching for what is the best movement for minimal effort with the staff (jo). Coordination of hands, feet, stick, and body definitely take time, but it's a journey I doubt I'll tire of. 🙂

Want to give Aikibojitsu a try? Reach out to us at Winding Path Martial Arts Academy to register interest (link in bio)

Honestly, for me this list isn't far off. Trying to run a business with AuDHD means making lists while trying not to get overwhelmed by said lists.

Just know if your list is simply 'Get Up', congrats, you've succeeded. As much as my brain wants to do ALL of the things immediately, slowing down, stepping back a bit, and ensuring that I am hitting the 20% most important items, the rest becomes simply icing on the cake.

There will be a lot of rinse and repeat as more of the busy work creeps in as "MANDATORY" in my head, but noting that, resetting, and going at it again means my overwhelm stays in check much more regularly.

If you've read this far, post in the comments any approaches you or your family uses to help plan, while still being aware of how much you can realistically give during the day.

Need something to start you moving? Here's a simple drill to practice on your own. No curriculum, just 4 angles. Have fun with it, and don't forget to rotate. 🙂

Leaving a 30-Year Tech Career is Terrifying 18/05/2026

Happy Monday folks. I'm excited to announce we have an article written about myself (Coach Scott) that has just gone live, talking about my pivot into a role of Neuro-Affirming Martial arts coach.

Have a look and please share your own stories on what drove career pivot decisions in your life, Neurodivergent-driven or otherwise.

Leaving a 30-Year Tech Career is Terrifying By Katia Lysionak For a while now, I have been working hard to bust the myths surrounding careers. There is no single path, no absolute definition, and no uniform measurement of success.

Sometimes, I'm ready to start training at 5am, while other times I hope not to even think about training until the evening?

Sometimes it's competing priorities, sometimes just overwhelm, but I do try to make sure I'm training at some point regardless, and 99.9% of the time, I'm happy I did.

Even with my dopamine seeking ADHD traits, I find that predictable routines help me in multiple ways.

1. I can know what's expected of me or my students (how we warm up, cool down, and generally run class).

2. Repetition leads to slow improvement, which in turn gives steady wins of improvement myself as the coach or my students can see regularly, rather than waiting for a "test" at the end of 6-12 months to gauge progress, it's continuous.

3. My overwhelm and uncertainty can be drastically improved by simply knowing what is coming in a general sense.

4.This also leads into a calming effect for emotional regulation.

I can still switch things up for my students (add a game, some light randomization), but doing so within a framework of a class format and regular routine means I'm not completely challenging the expectations and state of being present my students are brining to the class as well, which supports them and their ability to be engaged and not overwhelmed.

Do you find routines that help you or your family that you didn't realize you've already implemented?
