π Cork Summer Show National Championships Results π
The first National Championships of the 2026 outdoor season took place on Sunday at the Cork Summer Show, providing a fantastic start to our summer programme on a beautiful sunny day in Cork.
Three clubs took to the rope throughout the day:
π Castlegregory
π Killylough
π Ballinastoe
# # # National 600kg Men
π₯ Gold β Killylough
π₯ Silver β Castlegregory
# # # National 700kg Men
π₯ Gold β Ballinastoe
π₯ Silver β Killylough
Congratulations to all clubs and competitors who took part and helped make the opening championship event of the season a success.
A special word of thanks to Castlegregory and Ballinastoe for bringing their underage athletes to the championships. Following the main competition, the young pullers had the opportunity to take part in a 6-a-side open club competition alongside senior athletes. Opportunities such as these are invaluable in helping our younger members gain experience, build confidence, and develop within the sport. The continued development of underage pullers is vital to the future growth and success of tug of war in Ireland.
Thank you also to the organisers of the Cork Summer Show, officials, volunteers and supporters for another excellent day of tug of war.
We look forward to seeing everyone again at the next championship event.
