Well the image kinda says it all. After 7 months recovery from my current injury and 15 months of the last 2 years injured, I realised that I would once again have to try quickly ramp up to fitness in a number of months, likely aggravating any weaknesses/injuries I already have. Plus life has been on hold too long at this stage and whilst I haven't given up, the priority order needs to change for the time being.
Instead the plan is to reset. Build the body back from the ground up. Spend the next 18 months building and training and then, if all is well I may look at doing the row. But rather than on & off & on again, I'm going to take the pressure off to take the time to properly prepare and not commit to a date.
It's been a hell of a journey so far and I always knew it would never be a linear line to success. But I want to thank everyone who's followed this journey so far and for your support. This process has taught me that it is the chasing of your dreams that is important, not necessarily getting there.
One day Iceland, but for now, Dublin.

Gorgeous few days in Rosscarbery. Always amazes me how beautiful Ireland is, especially on those rare warm summer evenings

Trip Announcement:
I will be delaying my attempt to row to Iceland to April 2022.
So it's taken me a while to write this post but I wanted to be sure of my plans.
I picked up an injury from training (tendinopathy) and have spent the last 2 months trying to get it under control. However, now several weeks past my planned departure date I'll have to postpone.
Though not ideal this gives me more time to prepare and I'm as determined as ever. So stay tuned and here's a nice sunset for you 😁

Got my dry suit ready which is one of the most important bits of equipment I’ll need. Thought it was kinda badass until I was compared to some stupid little bear.

I'm in skibbereen at Hegartys boat yard. The last wooden boatyard in Ireland. Just left Phoenix for the night but will be back as need a small keel added to help how it performs in the wind. Gorgeous view from the boat yard of the river and the Skibbereen Rowing club training. @ Skibbereen, Ireland

With a storm outside it felt like a good time to set up a proper work space at home. No excuses now!
Best part is having somewhere for the charts as they take up so much space.
Working through insurance, sponsorship, and some equipment orders today.
