Metropolitan Girls Academy

It was with deep sadness we heard of the passing of Freya Fitzpatrick at a very young age yesterday morning.

Freya was an inspiration for all within the Academy as she battled back from serious illness to play in the Gaynor Bowl Final in early 2021 (Delayed from 2020)

She later returned to help coach a side within the Academy.

It is with deep sadness that we heard of the passing of Philip Henry yesterday following illness.

All involved in the MGL Academy from 2012 to 2023 would like to pass their Sincerest Condolences to Phils family and friends

Girls football in Dublin would not be as strong as it is without Phils involvement over the last 12 years as he guided not only hundreds of players but also many coaches to push on to next level

Countless players coached by Phil are now playing in WNL, WSL, EWFL and beyond.

Many former players have also moved into Coaching at various clubs around Ireland at local and national levels.

Hi All,

The NDSL/MGL Cup Finals 2023 will take place in the AUL Complex across the weekend 6th & 7th May. Entry is by prepaid ticket only (same ticket covers both days)

Please advise all Parents & supporters that cash will not be taken at the gate.

Tickets can be purchased through Clubforce using the link at the end of the message. Ticket cost is €5 per adult or €10 for a Family.

The use of prepaid bar coded tickets is a new development for the League, arising from instructions from the Gardaí who will not permit the queuing of cars outside the gate of the AUL complex.

This was a problem when the AUL last held an event, which led to a serious health and safety issue with cars having to queue on the road outside the complex. We have seen this in previous years outside the OTCDC as well

The Gardaí have advised that if queuing occurs, cars will be moved on and will not be permitted to enter the complex.

The League is seeking your cooperation in ensuring that this information is passed to all involved with your team, so as to ensure the safety of all attending and that no one is disappointed by being refused entry.

Under no circumstances will cash be taken at the entry point. A printed bar-coded ticket or the bar-code on phone will be required for every adult attending .

With the growing interest and development in girls football and with some recent inquires the club would like to set up an U17 girls team in the MGL next season for girls born in 2007. If your daughter is interested in getting involved please contact Ken on 0868227437 ⚽️⚽️

Congratulations to our U12 Academy side who have secured a place in the Sfai Shield Semi final, last Saturday the squad made the long trip to play Sligo Leitrim in the quarter finals, after a tough game a late goal gave the lads the win and a trip to Kerry later in the month in the semi finals. Well done to all involved.
