On Wednesday, September 11th, DFB Rugby faced a strong and well drilled Irish Police Rugby side in Westmanstown. Captained by Stephen Weldon, the team featured many new players from recent recruit classes and each of them along with the rest of the squad made very good accounts of themselves while representing Dublin Fire Brigade proudly.
A minutes silence was observed in memory of the victims, and in particular firefighters and police officers that lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.
Thanks to all who came to support, DFB Sports & Social Club Private for their continued support and to each player that gave up their time to represent DFB.
Thanks also to our opponents who deservedly won the match and we look forward to the rematch.

Next Wednesday, 11th of September, DFB Rugby will take on Ireland Police Rugby. This is a team of combined Police services from An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland DFB Rugby are looking forward to our first match against this side.

Today we fielded two mixed teams in the Westmanstown Garda Rugby Football Club run Shane McGinn Inter District Tag Tournament, a great event raising funds for Little Blue Heroes.
With 22 teams involved mainly from An Garda Síochána, it was always going to be tough to retain the cup having won the last time the event took place in 2019. Both teams exited in the knock out stages.
The event was very sociable with an after party taking place this evening also. Thanks to Garda Westmanstown RFC for the invite and we look forward to next years event.

CALL OUT TO RUGBY REFEREES

The Shane McGinn memorial Inter District tag tournament takes place next Thursday the 11th of August. All proceeds from the day are being donated to Little Blue Heroes.

Games KO at 12pm and are expected to run to 5pm. Due to the number of teams entered this year the organisers are struggling to get enough Referees. If you are a ref or could manage a few games behind the whistle and can offer your services please contact Eddie on 086 8360858.

On the 11th August Dublin Fire Brigade Rugby Club will compete in the Shane McGinn Inter District Tag Tournament, an An Garda Síochána run event in aid of Little Blue Heroes in Westmanstown Garda Rugby Football Club. We hope to enter two teams of 12 male and female members of DFB. Having won this competition last time it was held pre Covid we know that it is great fun and a very sociable event. Starting at 11am with a BBQ (cash only) and BYOB encouraged its sure to be a great day with proceeds going to a great cause.
