Before the sliotar was thrown in, another important occasion took place at Páirc Pharnell, where Cathal Briscoe officially opened the newly installed wheelchair unit.

Cathal was joined by family and friends, along with Ken O’Sullivan, Cathaoirleach of Coiste Áth Cliath, and Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll Mac Neill.

To mark the occasion, An Cathaoirleach presented Cathal with a Dublin jersey. Young James Mac Neill also received a Dublin jersey.

Congratulations to Cuala and Dublin senior player Sinéad Wylde on her selection for the Irish shinty team. Ireland secured a comfortable win over Scotland, with Sinéad among the scorers.

Cian O’Sullivan was Dublin’s sole representative on the senior men’s team. Ireland looked on course for victory until a last-minute goal from Scotland denied the hosts the win.

Remarkably, 37 players across the two panels attended Coláiste Eoin! Maith sibh!

It was also wonderful to see 92 year old Mick Hynes celebrating with the team!

Camogie news from Brussels! Former Dublin and Ballyboden St. Enda’s player Irene Kirwan has been living in Belgium for several years with her wife, Maude, and their two young children, Mila and Liam.

Recently, Mila and Liam Kirwan Florent took part in their first Cúl Camp in Brussels! There was a strong Dublin connection, with former Whitehall Colmcille player Eilise O’Grady on hand to teach the young players the skills of the game.

Eilise herself has also enjoyed a memorable season with Brussels Craobh Rua, scoring the winning goal to secure the European Championship title. A driving force behind the team’s success this season, she was certainly a wonderful person for Mila and Liam to learn from!
