Last game of the season today and my final game in charge after 3 1/2 years where we had some brillant days out cup final wins league final wins trips to the aviva and our great trip to Wales this year topping it all off ! On the pitch after taking a couple of weeks to get used to 11 a side we got going and played some excellent football reaching another cup semi final and performing well in Wales against top side ! The boys started off in u11 F and have done unbelievably well to get to where they are with help off other boys along the way ! Our form dipped badly since just before the summer break and we never recovered due to a couple of reasons players out injured etc but they are well placed to do well again next season ! I wish them the very best of luck it was a pleasure to be there manager !! Ian 👏⚽⚽🏆🏆

Diary of a Parent Grassroots Coach
Written by a working dad, who has a busy life like everyone else.
As a coach I thought I did enough....
There’s planning for training sessions planning for matches, setting up pitches, marking pitches, sometimes organising tournaments and organising on occasions lifts for games.
Then I joined a new club closer to home and a committee.... the emails coming through at times are like having a full time job. There’s the chasing up registrations, chasing of subs, the player registrations the league registrations, the organising of pitches, the organising of training venues, the organising of match venues, the advertising for teams that players, organising club events, sorting out of equipment looking more sponsors, club tournaments, team tournaments, club welfare and security checks, and that’s just during the pre season without the seasons activities.
Welfare issues, coaches issues, ensuring coaches are educated, then there’s the time out from coaches that need to be educated doing both online courses and other courses, prepping training sessions, and some do organise festive parties,At times it’s like a full time job.
Whilst others are organising their summer holidays football clubs managers committees are thinking about how to move their clubs forward.
Yet in the grassroots game we are still struggling for volunteers. We ask ourselves why??? We are losing volunteers why?
Because they’d rather work than get grief off parents.
Ask others can they volunteer ? They say I’ve got two much on...HELLO, am I not?
So as the premiership and lower leagues seasons start ...people who get paid but get next to no grief ask yourself can I help??
The biggest help you can give is by being patient, letting your manager manage, your coach coach and your club do their best to help your child enjoy their football.
Remember just like you’re busy so are they, they are also mums ,dads, uncles , aunties, grandmas grandads, self employed , working a number of jobs , and most PAY for their children just like you do too,and sadly a lot of clubs are folding, coaches are giving up their love for the beautiful game because of the above.
The chances are that whilst you find fault in your club, you’ll find a fault in others too,
So rather than unnecessary grief put your club and manager through, ask the question at your club :
WHAT CAN I DO....
The chances are most have busy lives like you, coaches like me, but many hands make light work so why not join your clubs football family .

Palmerstown Fc 3 - 3 Kilnamanagh Afc
After Wednesday s 6-1 home win against mountview where finn o Donoghue grabbed a hattrick aswell as goals from Jack Finn and Jamie we had a huge game today against a inform Kilnamanagh side ! The worst possible start for us going down to ten men with a harsh red card inside the first couple of mins we soon went 1 behind as the visitors broke down the right with a ball in behind which was finished well a second soon followed after a free kick wasn’t dealt with properly and we got punished 2 down at half time and down to ten men we had to change things around go 3 at the back and get a bit of pace and energy in midfield we soon got back into the game through Peter Donague with a cool finish it was game on Kilnamanagh had chances on the break as we looked for a equalizer and looked liked they had killed the game off with a third on the break that didn’t stop our boys we reshuffled the team again and pressed them getting back into the game again through peter Donague again while Kilnamanagh had one great chance on the break to seal it we came close in the last min to a equalizer which Sean ford couldn’t quiet wrap his foot around it then in injury time Noah Gordon got on the ball played Posi who drove at there back four beating 3 defender s and finishing superbly and it was pandemonium on the side line as we battled back with determination and a never say die attitude Kilnamanagh who played more than a part in a epic game it must of felt like a defeat to them but they showed class at the final whistle ! That’s a wrap now in league action until sept it’s been a long 6 months since January losing the first two game s and been unbeaten since in the league( 11 games) a cup semi final run and our memorable trip to wales 🏴 it’s been a brillant season so far we will go again in August! ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Palmerstown Fc 1- 1 Mount merrion
A super goal after 2mins had us behind this morning we struggled to get a hold on the game with Mount Merrion proving to be a really good footballing side Conor had to be alert a couple of time s in the first half ! As the half went on we got more into it with Dean and Posie starting to dominate midfield we created some very good chances with jack and Cody going close ! After some well earned fluids in the heat we came out the second half determined to get back into it Posie Deano jack byrne all putting in strong tackle s as we set the tone finn o Donague came on as caused them a lot of problems breaking through a couple of time s ! Peter Donague flashed a brillant strike just over the bar with Finn connell on right side running and taking on there left full ! Our goal arrived through Jamie byrne directly from a corner curling in a brillant corner over the Merrion keeper to draw us level ! We went for it then and to be fair so did Mount Merrion Dean o brien had to clear off the line from a corner before we again went close to winning it ! A much better performance from us and we move on to Monday at home again to Leicester Celtic!
