Here is Sean demonstrating some hip mobility exercises in our studio πŸ’ͺ

Hip mobility exercises can be excellent for someone who is suffering with hip pain, impingement or osteoarthritis.
With hip impingement, the joint is restricted resulting in some pinching type pain deep in the joint.
Similarly with arthritis, the joint is also irritated/painful and there can be restricted range of motion making even simple tasks like putting on shoes difficult.

Exercise is very beneficial with these conditions βœ”

Sean is performing some small movements with his lead leg to help improve range of motion at the hip joint πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
The gentle movement can also reduce pain in the joint and has a therapeutic effect 😊
Improving movement at the joint and decreasing pain should make daily activities and exercising much easier πŸ‘

If this sounds like it could help you, why not book in for an appointment with one of our physiotherapists πŸ™Œ

Are your feet struggling with the effects of the heat?
Many people feel that the added temperature can cause additional swelling, tightness and foot pain around their feet, ankles and calfs πŸ‘£

Here are a number of tips that can help keep our feet healthy in the hot weather:

1. Stay Hydrated: Our bodies try to store water when dehydrated or when not drinking enough fluids. That can cause swelling around our lower limbs.

2. Wear Appropriate Footwear: Some flip flops and sandals provide very little support to our feet and can consequently cause pain. If out walking, try a more supportive runner.

3. Take Breaks: When resting put your feet up. Try to do some ankle pumps or ankle circles to help promote circulation.

4. Show Good Foot Care: Avoid walking in bare feet when outside as there is a chance of either burning on hard surfaces with the heat or contracting a fungal infection. Wash and moisturise feet daily. Alternate shoes to allow for them to dry and to help keep feet fresh.
