10 years ago we started a Bicycle shop called Dublin2Bike, A family venture - my Dad Paul and sister Gillian and my cousin Martin helped me take things from a concept to a reality, from the first 8 bikes we got in, to thousands sold over the years. From thinking we’d never fill the shop, to needing twice the space to fit everything in!
Every day has been different, every day is a school day or so I’m told! We’ve seen some really mental stuff! Just when you think you’ve seen everything, something comes around the corner and blows that out of the water.
It has been the steepest of learning curves and It’s been an extremely quick 10 years.
Of course, we’re still striving to improve the shop, to ‘get it right’ with our offering and service on a daily basis.
There has been a lot of change in the last 10 years in bikes and especially E-Bikes and cycle lanes and Covid, supply chain issues, Online, payment methods, Ai, Brexit, B2B, B2C, A to B, There’s an app for that, Work from home, highs and lows, swings and roundabouts! Things are changing so rapidly now it’s hard to know what is going to come next! So much has happened. The way we live and do business has changed irrevocably.
Cycling has exploded in Ireland and has become a viable transport option once again and not just a leisure/sport pursuit. Cycling is the new Golf, Downhill Mountain biking is the new Formula 1, Cargo bikes are THE new way to bring your kids to school and Gravel is King - Who knew!
I’d like to thank everyone who has ever come in to us, to all of our customers and supporters, champions, companies, suppliers and service providers and of course staff, We have a great team here in Dublin2Bike at the moment and have had some wonderful staff members in the past. Not to mention our families and friends for their enduring support.. Thank you.
Here’s to the next 10 years rolling by.
Cheers,
Shane
