SOLO TRAVEL - I've done a lot of it. Yes, over the years, I have also enjoyed travelling with friends, boyfriends and family but there is something that hits differently about solo travel.
I feel like when I travel alone, I completely leave my life back home, behind me and can totally immerse myself in a new experience.
Solo travel sometimes raises questions from people who have never done it (and it might not be for everyone) and often from people in the countries you are visiting. "You travel alone?" "Where is your husband?" are questions I hear on the regular. But usually it is coming from a place of curiosity.
Bali is hands down the easiest place I've ever travelled alone in and Myanmar was the most challenging (largely due to language and infrastructure).
I love that I can get to do this - there is so much freedom in it that I never experience in anything else. I'm also lucky that I have a lot of friends who solo travel too, so that I can get to vicariously live through them from time to time.
(Thought I'd make this little carousel of points to consider for those of you curious about solo travel)
Join me tomorrow for some Bali infused yoga at Pure Health 🙏
In Chinese Medicine, our heart meridian houses our SHEN (our spirit) it is connected to our sense of JOY.
In my Yin & Pin workshops I talk a lot about the importance of honouring our Shen, pursuing our joy like our life depends on it, because it does.
Joy is not a frivolous thing, something to pay attention to, when all our obligations are met, but something that we have to make an effort to weave into the very fabric of our everyday lives.
Yes we all have responsibilities and life throws a lot of curve balls our way. We experience loss, grief, frustration and disappointments and each time we have to find our way back to joy.
Bali has literally brought that joy back into my body and soul by doing the things that I have always loved - travelling, being immersed in nature, meeting new people, swimming in waterfalls and the ocean, eating good food, with a bit of adventure thrown in.
These are all the things i do back home, but of course everything is amplified in a new land and Bali has a way of raising your vibration. If only i could bottle this stuff, and take big gulps of it when life gets hard again 💛
