Don’t neglect the physical qualities needed to make an impact on the pitch - And speed kills!!

This is an opportunity to go after speed and power development without the added fatigue of matches.

Yes, lift heavy! Yes, do hypertrophy work! Yes, do general aerobic work!
But could you prioritise SPEED, POWER, ATHLETICISM & your overall movement capabilities

🏋️ HYROX 🏃🏽‍♀️

Big congrats to Ryaner placing 3rd in his class at the Phenom open in Cork last weekend 💪🏽

Ryaner got a clean slate of 9/9 lifts and matched or exceeded all of his PBs at a new, much lower bodyweight. Some going!

Youth Strength Training 👶🏻🏋️‍♀️

Incorporating a researched backed approach to training of children and adolescence allows us to safely and appropriately build the physical qualities needed to develop young players 📖

Providing the correct stimulus now can lead to greater enjoyment of the game - create healthy lifestyle habits - decrease injury risk & increase psychosocial well being 😁

Further down the line - Introducing children early to training suitable to their biological age allows for greater strength, speed and power gains 💪

Drop us a message with any question you might have on this topic OR to discuss our youth S&C programmes 🤝

Maximal Aerobic Speed (MAS) & Anaerobic Speed Reserve (ASR) 🏃🏽‍♀️💨

Is the MAS distance you’re prescribing having the physiological effect you desire?

Most field sport athletes and coaches, particularly in GAA have come across or used ‘MAS Runs’ at some point.

Perform some form of test or time trial (we like 1,400m TT, Bronco or 30:15 intermittent test) work out each players MAS and programme from there. Easy peasy 😁

Even though it’s individualised, is each player experiencing the same effect? 🧐

If two players - player A and player B both have the same MAS but player B has a higher maximal sprinting speed (MSS). Player B will be working at a lower % of their capacity compared to player A. Essentially player A will have to run faster/ work harder than player B.

This is where Anaerobic Speed Reserve (ASR) comes in 😎
ASR is the difference in metres per second between an athletes MAS & their MSS. Using ASR will allow us to accurately quantify and programme for each athlete, ensuring the internal load for every athlete is as similar as possible! ✅

Drop us a message with any questions you might have about his! 🤝

Strength Testing for Field Sport Athletes 📈🏋🏻‍♀️

Examining relative strength is one component of testing we do with our field sport athletes.

This provided us with:

1️⃣- Baseline level of strength. 💪

2️⃣- Allows us to programme loads for off-season, pre-season and most importantly in-season.

3️⃣- Provides us with information on the programme (is the goal to get stronger - evidence that it’s working - or not 😬)

Part 2 & 3 - Power & Conditioning Testing for Field Sport Coming Soon!

Drop us a message to enquire about our performance testing 📧👌
