Piranha Triathlon Club is based in Dublin, Ireland. We set up the club to bring together people who shared a common interest. Our goal is to help members (beginner to advanced) reach their health, fitness and competitive goals through the sport of triathlon. Triathlon is relatively new to Ireland and is proving very popular with athletes of all levels and ability. The club welcomes people interested in any aspect of the sport. There is no obligation on anyone to compete; being a member of Piranha is as competitive as you choose to make it! We welcome members who are interested in one or two of the disciplines (not just all three) as we put together relay teams and organise participation as a club in local runs and sea swims.

Our U23 elites are eliting. Comhghairdeas to Sean and Saoirse who rocked the Derry Triathlon Europe Junior Cup this month.

Sean completed his sprint in 53 minutes! With a 7:31 swim (1min/100m), a 27-minute bike (43km/h) and a 17-minute run.

Saoirse came top 20 with a time of 1:02:29! With an 11-minute swim, a 30-minute bike and a 19-minute 5k, Saoirse was 2 minutes down from first place, showing you how tight the competition was.

We are excited to sponsor these young talents and have them showcase the best of Piranha. Maith thú! ♥️💙

Two weekends of bumper racing, two National Champs and two overall Piranha podiums!

Ciaran Kyne is flying, taking silver at the Sprint Nationals (Two Provinces) and bronze at the Middle Distance Nationals in Tyrone, third overall by eight seconds 😮‍💨 some finish!

Megan Roberts took 5th with Sean McMahon mixing it up in the Sprint Champs. Congrats to all the AG podiums 🏅 Well done all! 🤜🤛

🥉 Sean McMahon, 3rd Open National Champ in 2:01:20, with the fastest swim of the day and one of the quickest 10k runs in the field 🔥

This week we said farewell to swim coach Niall McDonnell.

After 20 years as a member and 12 years coaching for Piranha, Niall is a proper club legend. From popular West Wood sessions to helping get things going at Sean MacDermott Street Pool, Niall has been there – week after week making good and fit swimmers 💪

Niall sent us off with his favourite set, 3 x 3x100s… we’ll miss that one and all of them.

Joanne’s birthday weekend double featured another fantastic event - the escape from Ireland’s Eye. This event featured a challenging 2km swim from the Island to the mainland!

Piranha Cycling Challenge 2026 X Base2Race

Massive thank you to .ie for sponsoring all the prizes for the Piranha March Cycling challenge 🙏🤌

Amelie was longest distance woman completing a mindblowing 1393 km in the month of March. Shane - our longest distance man - put in an awful amount of work to make sure he beat Amelie with a total distance of 1522 km 😵 To reward them for all their hard work, Amelie and Shane were gifted beautiful helmets (thank you again base2race).

Ruth, our new to tri winner beat her goal of 570km and cycled 747km! Finally, Miriam was our lucky draw winner and also completed their goal distance of 570km by cycling a whopping 762km. Ruth and Miriam walked away with many many gels which will fuel the rest of their season!
