Piranha Cycling Challenge 2026 X Base2Race

Massive thank you to .ie for sponsoring all the prizes for the Piranha March Cycling challenge πŸ™πŸ€Œ

Amelie was longest distance woman completing a mindblowing 1393 km in the month of March. Shane - our longest distance man - put in an awful amount of work to make sure he beat Amelie with a total distance of 1522 km 😡 To reward them for all their hard work, Amelie and Shane were gifted beautiful helmets (thank you again base2race).

Ruth, our new to tri winner beat her goal of 570km and cycled 747km! Finally, Miriam was our lucky draw winner and also completed their goal distance of 570km by cycling a whopping 762km. Ruth and Miriam walked away with many many gels which will fuel the rest of their season!

Maith thΓΊ to everyone who took part! Can’t wait to do this again next year and a big big thank you to .ie for their sponsorship πŸ’–

Open waters swims are back! Great swim today at Seapoint with lots of faces new and old.

Come join us on our next one on Friday! Eric promises the water is really warm. And if you’re not up for the swim, just come for the food after (tbc).

πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ½οΈπŸ§  Piranha Easter Training Camp: Day 2 (Part 2)

After a busy day, it was time to slow things down with some yoga, followed by dinner at the hotel. Then came the main event… quiz night 🧠

Safe to say it was very competitive, plenty of laughs, and maybe a few questionable answers along the way.
Including a body part round πŸ‘€

The bonus round was a paper airplane challenge ✈️, and Tony & Dee really thought outside the box for that one. Ultimately, it was Tony who helped bring The Bumble Vees the win 🐝

πŸ† Very humbly, of course… and definitely no boos from the crowd πŸ˜…

πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Piranha Easter Training Camp: Day 2 (Part 1) πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

Back out on the bikes this morning, and yes, we knew the wind was coming 🌬️😭 Inters & Advanced made their way to Youghal (with a quick hello to Windmill Hill), while Improvers took on a much more civilised spin along the Greenway. 🀌 All part of the plan, and everyone rolled back in safe just before it got properly gusty. Timing = elite. Finally, a quick detour into the whirlpool bath for some.

More to come later with yoga, dinner at the hotel and quiz night πŸ‘€

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ Piranha Easter Training Camp: Day 1 (Part 2)

After the spins, it was straight into a trail run through Colligan Wood. 🌲🌲🌲 A nice change of pace (and terrain!) before heading back for some strength & conditioning.

We mixed things up with a few challenges to test everyone’s balance πŸ˜†

We wrapped up the day with a group briefing, taking the chance to thank everyone involved in organising the camp, our volunteer bike leads, and all those who gave their time to make it happen (this Easter camp but also previous camps). All very well deserved πŸ‘ (and rewarded with a goodie bag!)

Then things got interesting… a surprise gift session with shirts, hats, bags, buffs and a lot of gels flying around 🀝🎁πŸ₯°

πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Piranha Easter Training Camp: Day 1 (Part 1) πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

We kicked things off this morning with four groups out on the road! Sunshine, amazing views, and a serious headwind that kept things a little too interesting 🌬️😬

Improvers enjoyed a spin along the Greenway, Inter 1 & 2 headed out to Kilmurrin Cove, and Advanced pushed on to Tramore. Something for everyone and a great start to the weekend!

More to come later today with trail running and strength & conditioning πŸ’ͺ

πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Bike Skills Recap πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

Last week we brushed up on the basics with a great bike skills session! Group cycling and building confidence all round. Big thanks to Casso for leading it and sharing the knowledge πŸ™Œ

Ended the day with some well-earned coffee and food after, even if there was a bit of a wait πŸ˜…β˜•

Maith sibh everyone! β™₯οΈπŸ’™
