Ireland Age Group triathlete Jacinta O'Keeffe will boycott the upcoming World Triathlon Championships in Spain due to the inclusion of 6 Israeli athletes. World Triathlon will not remove Israel. However, the municipal government hosting the event are voting on a motion to ban Israel's presence at sporting, cultural "or other" events held in the city this week. If the motion passes it could impact Israel's participation.

Somebody has to take a stand on what’s going on in Gaza. What an opportunity for Ireland to be the first country to stand up and say this is totally wrong.

We’re talking about losing points, we’re talking about losing some money - what we should be talking about is over 20,000 children killed.

We shouldn’t be playing Israel in anything until this is resolved.

If the games take place, it’s a scandal.

Everybody says 'oh this is terrible, what's going on is scandalous' but nobody is doing anything about it.

It’s continuing, still: There’s supposed to be a ceasefire in Gaza. But 1600/1700 people have been killed since the ceasefire: Kids being shot in the head, journalists being murdered, medics being buried in the ground.

You can't justify playing a game against a country carrying out those atrocities.

Call for Israel to be removed from the 2026 World Triathlon Championships in Spain at the end of this month. There are six Israeli athletes registered to compete in the World Triathlon Championships. One athlete, Shachar Sagiv, is a former soldier with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). Earlier this month, North West Triathlon Club removed four Israeli athletes from the European Cup held in Derry City. Irish Sport for Palestine calls on World Triathlon to do the same thing and remove Israel from the Championships.

Irish Sport for Palestine supports the musicians who have stood in solidarity with Palestine following Macklemore’s removal from the Loop Tour. Irish artists, in particular, have led the way with their unwavering and principled stance despite potential risk to their careers. They have made Ireland proud on a world stage.
They have shown us what true courage and leadership looks like. They have shown us what it means to be Irish. To be Irish is to oppose occupation, apartheid, and genocide. It is to refuse to be silent in the face of oppression. It is to punch above our weight and make an impact far beyond our island. The FAI and the Irish Men’s Senior team should take notice. We call on you to act collectively with conscience and cancel the Nations League fixtures against Israel. We refuse to let sport be used as cover for war crimes. Stop The Game. The world is watching.
