We are a competitive swimming club based in South Co. Dublin. The club is always happy to welcome new members.

Glenalbyn Swimming Club is a competitive swimming club based in South County Dublin, and affiliated to Swim Ireland. When Glenalbyn Swimming Pool was closed for renovations (and never reopened), the Club lost its home and our athletes are now training in a number of pools in the local area: DLR Monkstown and Loughlinstown pools, UCD and St.Augustine's. We currently have five different squads -

What a Day for Glenalbyn.
National 5k Open Champion and National 10k Bronze Medal winner.
Issy Hit the Pad first to become the National Champion in the 5k and Patrick won Bronze in the National 10k event. This was in the Swim Ireland National Championships.
Many thanks to Leinster Open Sea for the many Training opportunities provided on our “home” beach Killiney and around Leinster which allowed both Issy and Patrick get all the required experience needed for today’s event.
Thanks also to Swim Ireland for today’s event.

GLENALBYN,
Forget Age Groups, Forget Youths and Senior Championships, today we have an Irish Open Champion!
Izzy Knight today became Irish Open Champion in the National 5k Championship.
Patrick Reyes took Bronze in the Men’s Open 10k Championship.
These were Open Events meaning that ages are irrelevant.
Patrick and IzzY are amazing athletes who go the distance, literally. Training for these events takes it to the next level with sessions in the pool often lasting three hours and then hitting the Open Water after pool sessions are finished.
This morning we left Dublin at 6am and travelled to Lough Key for the National Championships.
If you do nothing else today have a look at the Finish of the 5k event where Izzy hit the pad first against a girl from Waterford after they had raced for over an hour.

Some Great swims Coming from the NAC this week.
PB’s for most and Many Many finals.
Patrick and Izzy bring home our first Medals of the meet with brilliant swims in the 800 and 1500 freestyle events.
Three more days of racing with lots of FAST Racing to come.

National Youth and Senior Championships gets underway in the NAC tomorrow.
15 members of GLENALBYN are racing in just about every event from the 50’s to the 10k open water events.
Wishing our Hard Working TEAM every success over the coming week.

What a Wonderful day at the Leinster Open Sea 96th Island swim today. A little Choppy and certainly a swim for those who like a challenge.
