Good classes tonight. Wing Tsun Kung Fu from 7.30-9pm. Siu Nim Tau, Cham Kiu, Biu Tze forms. Lat Sau, Chi Sau and applications.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from 9-10pm. Exam revision and lots of sparring.

Beginners are always welcome. Classes are €10 each, €15 for two on the same night or €60 per month. Wing Tsun next Monday at 7.30pm followed by Kali at 9pm.

We have made a change to our schedule from August onwards.
* Wing Tsun Kung Fu on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 9pm.
* Kali on Mondays from 9 to 10pm.
* Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Wednesdays from 9 to 10pm.

Tonight in our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class beginners worked on the double underhook guard pass while intermediate students worked on the "Pisao" (Front kick).

Two classes tonight back to back. Wing Tsun Kung Fu first then our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. In our BJJ class we worked on some empty hand knife defence against an overhead attack in reverse grip. This is from the Gracie University syllabus. We also worked on elevator sweeps from guard and did 20 minutes of sparring.

In the photos are fathers and sons training. Dave and Sean as well as Liam and Mark. BJJ sparring adds a new dynamic to family relationships.

We had a great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class tonight on the back of a great seminar last Saturday. Tonight beginners worked on taking the back from guard while those more advanced worked on counters to the toe hold footlock. We finished with six, four minute rounds of no gi sparring.

We work from a defined syllabus on a weekly basis but by attending seminars it allows us to see the bigger picture. A big thank you to Ken Byrne, founder and head of Golden Tiger Academy HQ in Dunboyne for hosting the seminar as well as the instructors from Gary Savage Martial Arts for delivering a great seminar.

We would like to say a big congratulations to Sean Mulder who tonight was awarded the first stripe on his BJJ white belt. Sean has been working on specific mount techniques for the last few months and he was examined on that tonight. He will now join the rest of the beginners who are currently working on guard techniques. Well done Sean for all your hard work.

Between Christmas, New Year and illness, tonight was our first night of training of 2024. Wing Tsun Kung Fu from 7.30-9pm followed by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where beginners worked on basic guard control and intermediate students worked on the standard toe hold

A big congratulations to Liam Smith on being awarded the 3rd stripe on his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu white belt tonight. Each stripe is for something specific. Liam's first stripe was for standing techniques, 2nd for side mount and his 3rd stripe tonight was for mount techniques. He did great tonight and we finished off with some sparring. Tonight was our last BJJ class before Christmas. See you in January for some guard.

We would like to say a very big congratulations to student Micheal Preston on being awarded his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tonight. He is based in Sligo and has been travelling to Dublin since 2008 for Wing Tsun Kung Fu classes and also over the past few years for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. He holds the rank of 3rd Higher Grade (Dan) in Wing Tsun and teaches classes in Sligo. For the past few months he has also informally been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to his Wing Tsun students but without charge as he was not an instructor.

Tonight he travelled to Golden Tiger Academy Headquarters in Dunboyne where he was personally examined for his blue belt by Ken Byrne, black belt and head instructor for Golden Tiger Academy. With his blue belt Micheal is now a qualified BJJ instructor and will officially teach BJJ under the name, Golden Tiger Academy - Sligo. Well done Micheal for all your hard work over the years and best wishes for your future.

Two good classes last night. Wing Tsun Kung Fu from 7.30-9pm followed by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from 9-10pm. In our BJJ class we revised some mount techniques, worked on the triangle choke as well as taking the back from half guard. We also worked on some positional sparring and finished with some live rolling.
