Welcome along to the Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School. Based in Dun Laoghaire, we are the largest sailing and powerboat training provider in Ireland and have been getting people on the water for over 40 years. Our instructors are very experienced and we are fully insured. We have an excellent safety record and pride ourselves on our superb reputation.

Irish National Marine Services & Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School are delighted to support the operation of Ireland’s first electric wheelchair-accessible boating service that launched on Friday in Dún Laoghaire Harbour, opening up new opportunities for wheelchair users and people with disabilities to experience the freedom of being on the water.

Officially launched by Cathaoirleach Clir Barry Saul, Boathub is centred on Ireland’s first electric wheelchair-accessible Wheelyboat and will offer free, bookable harbour trips, fishing experiences and boating activities for all to enjoy.

Boathub was made possible through the support of and Community Foundation Ireland , whose partnership and commitment to accessibility and inclusion have helped bring this unique project to life.

We look forward to working with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and National Watersports Campus with support from many other organisations such as DLR Sports Partnership - It was great to welcome Cllr JP Durkan on our first tour on Friday afternoon!

It’s been a busy September down at the INSS.

Here’s just some of what we’ve had going on:

School Groups: Sailing & Water Activities – We’ve welcomed over 1,000 children onto the water in the past 17 days.

Junior Club – Our children’s Saturday juniorclub started back after the summer break, with plenty of new and returning students.

Adult Dinghy & Keelboat Sailing – We’ve had plenty of Keelboat and Dinghy Level 1 & Level 2 courses running over the past few weekends.

Day Skipper & Competent Crew – Lots of fully booked courses onboard Beaufort Venture, with new dates announced for the rest of the year.

Theory Courses – We’ve had lots of different courses running in the evenings and at weekends, including our Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Theory courses, as well as Day Skipper Theory.

Junior Club Returns!

What a fantastic day on the water for our junior club sailors! With superb conditions, it was the perfect opportunity for everyone to get out on the water, enjoy some great sailing, and make new friends along the way.

It was brilliant to see so many young sailors getting involved, building their confidence, and enjoying time out on the water together. We’re looking forward to plenty more fun, sailing, and good times throughout the season!

What a fantastic evening! Last night we were joined by our friends from DLR Sports Partnership for a Sunset Paddleboarding session from beach.

The evening was part of Sport Ireland HER Outdoors week and we’re were delighted to put DLR Sports Partnership Louise and Kevina’s idea into action.

The group were mainly graduates of an earlier HER Moves programme and it was great to see everyone putting new found skills and confidence to use and sustaining participation after the conclusion of a course!

On the water there was time for a few snacks alongside the INSS Safety Boat. There will be more!

(And we have to give credit to our Pure Magic Watersports friends for all the help with the programmes!)
