[CLUB STATEMENT RE: DUBLIN RIOTS]
Hi all,
Hoping you’re all doing okay and keeping safe after the saddening incidents in Dublin last night.
Our instructors team want to acknowledge the frightening acts of hate and violence which took place last night, are not those aligned with the values of our club, our members, or karate-do.
Firstly, we’re hoping for the recovery and safety of those injured & hurt yesterday during yesterday incidents. We’ll wish them a speedy recovery.
Second, we know many of you now may be feeling concerned for the safety of yourselves and your loved ones. We are here for you. Senseis Andy, Tom & I have always been incredibly proud of the wonderful diversity of our students & club members over the last 20+ years, and we want to ensure everyone will always feel our dojo is a welcome, safe and encouraging space for us all to learn and grow, together.
The karate community across the world is steered by our shared values, written in the Dojo Kun:
1. Seek perfection of character.
2. Be faithful.
3. Endeavour.
4. Respect others.
5. Refrain from violence.
It’s saddening to see and hear stories of these values not being well reflected in certain parts of the city last night, but we know this is not a reflection of our club and our incredible members. We hope you all feel the same.
In our dojo, the only creed and colour we are ever concerned with are the ones around your waist. Your belt, or your ‘obi’. Even so, the colour of your belt is only ever a sign of the steps you’ve taken along a journey in self development, but this journey never ends. The colour of a belt will never represent the wonderful characters and personalities behind each and every one of you. What the different colours in our club do represent though; is the amazing diversity of cultures and experiences we bring to the dojo each night, as we share, and learn, and grow, together.
Please take some time and space for yourselves over this weekend to decompress as you need following the saddening events. Let myself, or any of our instructors know if you’d like to talk, or explore how your karate can help you feel more confident in your own safety, both physically and spiritually.
We’ll look forward to seeing you all together again next week when you’re all ready.
We are here for you.
Yours in Karate-Do,
Your Senseis,
Andy, Tom & Rory 🥋

Happy Easter it all our club members. It’s been a while, but looking forward to training together soon. Stay safe everyone.
[CLUB UPDATE - CORONA VIRUS]
Dear all,
We are hoping you and your families and friends are staying well during this time of international health concern.
As you know, the corona virus has been recently elevated to a stage of global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and in advance of this, our club has made the decision to cancel all club training sessions & events until further notice.
During this difficult time, we hope that you are following the necessary health guidelines to limit and control the spread of this virus, supporting our healthcare systems and protecting our loved ones.
Our social responsibility is to ensure we are all taking the appropriate measures wherever possible to limit this spread; through regularly washing our hands and effective social distancing, so that we protect those most vulnerable in our community.
To facilitate this, we wanted to provide you some further updates on measures we are working on to support you:
1. Club Training: All club training sessions & events/gradings have been cancelled until further notice.
2. Fees: All membership fees due to be paid respective to our period of closure (March onwards) will not be charged. Any fees already paid in advance for this period will be rolled-over into our next term period following our return to training.
3. Karate @ Home: Our instructors team are currently exploring a number of approaches and resources to support those who wish to continue their training from home during this time of social distancing and self-isolation. Please find more information on this below.
Hoping you stay well during this time and we will look forward to welcoming you all back to the dojo in due course.
Please let us know if any concerns, questions or ways we can support.
Yours in Karate-Do,
Club Instructors Team

Corona Virus — St Paul's Karate As you know, the corona virus has been recently elevated to a stage of global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and in advance of this, our club has made the decision to cancel all club training sessions & events until further notice.
We are lucky as adults to have access and ability to discern a lot of information and guidelines surrounding COVID-19, and act accordingly. However, as instructors we understand it can be difficult to gauge how we share this information with our children and dependents.
Sharing a quick video here from the Child Mind Institute on how to explain the virus concerns and necessary health practices to your little ones.
Hoping this may be of help to those feeling (naturally!) uncertain how best to communicate this issue. Perhaps this is an opportunity you can use from your child's regular karate learnings to speak with them about the situation?
How to Talk to Kids About the Coronavirus News of the coronavirus COVID-19 is everywhere, from the front page of all the papers to the playground at school. Many parents are wondering how to bring up...
CLUB UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS
Hi all, please note we are cancelling all training sessions until further notice, in line with guidance to avoid spread of coronavirus.
At this time, we have not heard any cases of the virus with members or immediate friends & families of St Paul's Karate, however we are taking these measures as a precaution.
We would like to encourage all students and club members to actively keep washing your hands and following latest health guidelines.
