Congratulations to Liam Murphy, club instructor for the YMCA karate club, for his successful JKA Rokudan (6th dan) grading at the JKA WF England Spring Course this weekend.

Our regular kata class is going ahead as normal this Saturday at 11am...

And of course Happy Easter to all our members, friends and colleagues.

Just a quick reminder, our usual Tuesday class next week will not be on, since it's Paddy's day. Enjoy the celebrations !

For 2026, we've confirmed a regular kata class on Saturday mornings at 11am in our YMCA dojo in Dublin city centre. All welcome. Any questions, just drop us a DM.

We'll be running an 8-week KARATE course for ADULT BEGINNERS in our Aungier St. dojo in Dublin city centre from Tuesday, Feb 3rd. 🥋

Welcome Leandro Sensei !

We're delighted to announce and welcome our newest club and senior instructor into the association - Leandro Caria 5th Dan JKA from the Bassai Dai Karate Club in Galway.
He has ventured over from Brazil only a few short months ago with the whole family for a new adventure, and since then has sucessfully integrated himself into the Irish Karate community and is quickly building up a loyal following and membership in his burgeoning club.
He continues to also liaise with his original Brazil based club, which he has already grown into a substantial and well established club in Brazil with JKA Brazil.
Please join me in welcoming Leandro and his Galway based club into JKA Shotokan Ireland. We look forward to joining him in the various events and activities throughout the year and will be there to support him in spreading Karate excellence in Galway.
We'll be planning a joint event early in 2026 and we hope you can come along to support the growing family in JKA Shotokan Ireland, as well as all our karate friends in Ireland.
