The goddess for the winter time in Ireland is the Cailleach.
In Ireland we pronounce her name as kyle - yakh or cal - yakh and she is associated with the stones and mountains of the land. She is said to be frozen in death in in county Kerry (in the south west of the country), into a rock, which is known as the “hag of beara”
Cailleach more accurately means veiled one.
She is associated with winter and is the counterpart to Bridget (Brighid/Brid) goddess of Spring (Yeshuas foster mother).
She is the archetypal wise woman who embodies a journey from barrenness to life - reminding us that life emerges from the void. In the stillness and darkness of winter, life is continuing, to emerge in the spring.
I think the name hag or crone has pejorative tones, I prefer to call her, the wisdom keeper, the grandmother, the guide, the soul of the land.

This evening we are experiencing Samhain and the energies of a powerful full moon. It is a time for stillness, and connecting with our ancestors and those we have loved and lost. As we commune with this darkness we can find the light within ourselves - we can bring it to the world.

Say not, “I have found the truth,” but rather, “I have found a truth.”
Say not, “I have found the path of the soul.” Say rather, “I have met the soul walking upon my path.”
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.

Whoever knows the mystery of vibrations indeed knows all things.
Bowl of Saki, February 10, by Hazrat Inayat Khan
Commentary by Hazrat Inayat Khan:
All planes of existence consist of vibrations, from the finest to the grossest kind; the vibrations of each plane have come from a higher one, and have become grosser. Whoever knows the mystery of vibrations, he indeed knows all things. ... From the scientific standpoint, spirit and matter are quite different from each other, but according to the philosophical point of view they are one. Spirit and matter are different, just as water is different from snow; yet again they are not different, for snow is nothing other than water. When spiritual vibrations become more dense they turn into matter, and when material vibrations become finer they develop into spirit.
