Big news for all concerned with Kickstart Fitness.

After a week that literally felt like the waltzers in funderland I’ve came to a deal to insure the shutters won’t come down and our members can keep going ❤️

Meet Lee Doherty… a personal trainer who has worked at Westpark Gym for years will take the reins and operate within my mentorship program and focus on improving on what I have built over the 13 years in business.

Lee has great plans and I am delighted to say Claire Haydon and Kirsty will also remain as part of his team at

The app will be live from tomorrow and the gym will be open as usual from 9.30am.

Anyone with time left on their previous membership Will unfortunately have to renew but the plus side is obviously the gym is NOT closing down.

More details to follow.

Thanks again for the outpouring of emotion and love last week, it motivated me to work hard to do this deal.

Love ✌️

Darren

The irreplaceable noise of laughter in among the hard work.

I’m gonna miss this.

Today and tomorrow definitely shaping up to be the toughest yet but as things look like they’re falling apart it also feels like everything is coming together perfectly.

All members are welcome to join us at Scholars bar/restaurant this Friday evening from 7pm for one last Kickstart celebration.

I’d love to see you all there ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I never thought I’d be writing this but here goes.

After thirteen years at the helm of Kickstart Fitness I’ve decided to step away and close the doors.

This may come as a real surprise to people who don’t know me and see the place online looking busy etc but those who know me understand fully why I need to do it and I am grateful for that.

I have so many opportunities and ideas I want to refocus my energy towards and I simply can not give these anywhere near the attention required whilst spending sixty to seventy hours per week switched on at Kickstart, it’s not possible anymore.

This decision has pulled on my heart for months now, it’s by far the toughest decision, but I am doing it for myself and maybe that’s why it feels so difficult.

I will be running classes as normal until next Wednesday, I’ll pull the shutter down after that for good. I had been looking at other options in terms of keeping it going without me there, right up until today but I feel those options will not be Kickstart and will not allow me to move on.

I want to thank everyone, past and present, members and staff for what I can only describe as a unique and amazing experience and I hope I have added some value physically and mentally to anyone I’ve met along the way.

I will focus now on educating back into our industry through TRX courses and other mentorship programs I have to offer.

I will also be launching online training programmes and I can now also get right behind my idea of setting up a top class podcast.

Finally I will be teaching tomorrow morning 9.30 class where I will be happy to speak in more detail to anyone who has any questions or concerns about this decision.

Thank you all.

Love ❤️✌️

Darren.

A lot of mails relating to the question of body positivity on eating with the enemy and whether we should be confident or comfortable being overweight, the program editors obviously chose for whatever reason to edit out what I feel was a very important part of the interview.

My thoughts are simple on this.

I hope nobody needs to or ever had to experience real depression or self loathing… ever.. I’ve been there and it’s hell.

I also hope nobody has to deal with heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes.

From a skeletal standpoint I hope nobody needs to experience or witness a loved one experience the pain involved in needing a hip or knee replacement and the rehab involved along with the periods of time lost running or walking around with your children.

Celebrate that…?…. Definitely not.

A healthy conversation with on tonight around in affects of social media, influencers, technology and also the body positivity movement and whether being over weight should be something we are comfortable with or not.
