Congratulations to everyone promoted at our recent colour belt grading! This grading marked the 10th anniversary of Master Floyd Keane becoming the clubs examiner. We want to extend a very warm thanks to all his time and effort over the years; we couldn't have asked for a better guide for the club's colour belts!

Congratulations to everyone who passed their grading on Friday! 24 students progressed to the next rank, making it our largest grading to date.

This past Friday the 11th of April saw the 70th anniversary of the official founding of Taekwon-Do. UCD TKD was happy to have the opportunity to mark the occasion with our Semester 2 colour belt grading.

17 members tested for and were promoted to the next rank, with Master Keane commenting on the high standard across all the grade groups. Congratulations to everyone who was successful and a huge thanks to Master Floyd Keane for his time!

Great performances from UCD Students and Alumni at the Irish Open 2024. Undeterred by the morning weather the team managed to bring home 6 bronze, 3 silver and 3 gold medals across sparring and patterns. UCD members also finished second in the power and special technique categories for which only a gold medal is given.

Great to see former UCD Captain Ciara Beirne again, who made the trip to both compete and to help support and coach our colour belts. Roll on intervarsities!

Congratulations to all our members that were successful at our on-campus colour belt grading last Friday! A total of 23 UCD students progressed in rank, our largest grading to date!

Great results today at the INTA Open Championships!!!
Competing as a black belt for the first time Ben won a double silver in patterns and breaking, as well as a bronze in sparring!
Bethan received a hard-fought silver in sparring after the final went through four rounds of tie-break!

Over 50 people trying Taekwon-Do at our taster session on Tuesday!

We ran four rotating stations to give everyone a chance to try different aspects of Taekwon-Do.

Two new black belts for UCD!!!

Ben and Kristen's instructors had the great pleasure of tying black belts around them for the first time. Both joined the club three years ago as part of the first pandemic-era group where training was conducted outdoors and have managed to effectively go from white belt to black belt in the minimum time required by the International Taekwon-Do Federation, all through UCD. An incredible achievement!

Also presented with new degree stripes were Jennifer O'Kelly (II Dan), Ciarán Brennan (III Dan) and Tony Pierce (III Dan)

A huge thanks to the RITA black belt examination panel, as well as UCD examiner Master Floyd Keane who conducted all of Kristen and Ben's colour belt gradings, right up to their black belt prelim. It could not have happened without their continued support!

An unprecedented seven UCD members were promoted at the RITA national black belt grading on Saturday!

Instructors Ciarán Brennan and Tony Pierce were promoted to 3rd Dan, while Jennifer O'Kelly became the first person in the club in well over a decade to go from 1st to 2nd Dan in the minimum required time!

Kristen DeLosh and Ben O'Leary Chaney joined the ranks of UCD students who graded all the way from white belt to black belt entirely through the club, managing to do so in a mere three years!

Additionally UCD students Cathal Ó Faoláin and Jason Zaidan from Stillorgan Taekwon-Do School were promoted to 3rd and 2nd Dan respectively.
