Australia's Robert Fletcher

20/08/2013

Congratulations to club member Andrew Johnston who reached the semi-final of the World Championships in London last week. Eighty elite players from all over the world competed and in the knockout phase Andrew eliminated James Hopgood, David Maugham and five-time World Champion Robert Fulford.

The final was won by Australia's Robert Fletcher (the youngest ever winner having just turned 20) who remarkably did not drop a single game throughout the entire event.

Robert will be visiting Carrickmines on Saturday 24th August with his father David, brother Malcolm and the trophy. To celebrate his and Andrew's achievements an exhibition match, golf croquet challenge and BBQ will take place that afternoon.
