I see so many people putting off things that would genuinely improve their wellbeing. Booking in with a physio. Taking time to rest. Joining a class. Going to therapy. Learning something new. Doing anything that supports them physically or mentally.

And I often wonder if part of the reason is that we’ve been conditioned to value productivity more than wellbeing.

It can feel easier to spend money on something when there’s a visible return afterwards. A certificate. A promotion. A qualification. Something tangible that proves the investment was worthwhile.

But when the outcome is simply feeling better, moving better, understanding yourself more deeply, or improving your quality of life, people suddenly hesitate.

Maybe one of the most important shifts we can make is learning to see our wellbeing as valuable before it becomes useful to someone else.

Thoughts????

When I look back on my life, I can see that yoga appeared long before I ever stepped into a teacher training.

A neighbour teaching me Lotus Pose as a child.

Being fascinated by world religions in school.

Wondering why I felt so drawn to stories, traditions and ways of understanding life that were different from my own.

At the time, these moments seemed unrelated.

Now they feel like pieces of the same puzzle.

One of the biggest things yoga has taught me is that not everything needs to make sense immediately. Sometimes we are drawn towards something long before we understand why.

That realisation is a big part of why I created my 100-Hour Yoga Student Training.

Not everyone who loves yoga wants to teach it.

Some people simply want to understand it more deeply.

To explore the philosophy, practices, stories and wisdom that sit beneath the poses.

To follow their curiosity and see where it leads.

Perhaps you've felt that pull too.

Perhaps you haven't joined all the dots yet.

I know hand drawing a poster in 2026 probably makes absolutely no sense when I could generate one online in 10 seconds, but honestly I just don’t want to.

Part of it is the environmental side of things. The amount of energy and water used just to create endless streams of content is hard to ignore. But another part of it is that I feel like we are slowly losing creativity, personality and human expression. Everything is starting to look the same and I think that is such a shame, especially in the yoga world where authenticity is supposed to matter.

I believe the way we present something should reflect what is actually behind it.

My Yoga Student Training starting this September is not about creating perfect yoga teachers or polished wellness influencers. It is about becoming a real student of yoga. Learning why we practice, not just what shapes to make with the body.

We will explore asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, mantra, nervous system regulation, injuries and adaptations, energetics, teaching skills, and how yoga can support real human life, not just what looks good online.

This training is for people who want to get curious, ask questions, learn deeply and build a practice that actually feels authentic to them.

So honestly, a messy colourful hand drawn poster feels far more aligned with that than another perfect AI image ever could.

I think many people are genuinely searching for healing, meaning and transformation.
But traditional yoga repeatedly reminds us that depth takes time and preparation matters.
Not everything needs to be extreme to be transformational.
Some of the deepest changes happen slowly through consistent practice, self-study, discipline and awareness over years.
That understanding is a huge part of why my Yoga Student Training begins with strong foundations in philosophy and practice instead of chasing intensity.

One of the things I find most interesting about the Bhagavad Gita is that these teachings were not given to someone who had escaped the world.

They were given to Arjuna, a warrior, a householder, someone overwhelmed by responsibility, emotion, confusion and moral conflict.

I think modern spirituality sometimes creates this idea that yoga is about transcending humanity altogether. Getting rid of the ego. Becoming “fully awakened.” Escaping ordinary life.

But the Gita repeatedly points us back toward awareness, discipline, devotion and right action within life itself.

Not bypassing being human but learning how to meet it more consciously.

And honestly, I’m not convinced one big spiritual experience suddenly removes the ego forever. (I did literally scratch my head when a woman told me she had no ego after her ego death experience!!)

The Yoga Sutras speak about asmita, our identification with the ego-self, as one of the core causes of suffering. That’s deep conditioning. Not something I personally believe disappears overnight because we had one intense experience.

I think real practice is often much slower than social media makes it seem.

It’s allowing the teachings to slowly seep into your life over years.
Into your relationships.
Your reactions.
Your choices.
Your habits.
Your awareness.

That understanding is a huge part of why my 100 hour Yoga Student Training begins with strong foundations, philosophy and steady practice instead of chasing dramatic spiritual experiences from the beginning.

If Kundalini awakening and enlightenment were really something that could be instantly purchased, activated or achieved in a weekend, I think the world around us would look very different.

Traditional yogic systems treated these practices with immense respect because they understood how powerful they could be. That’s why the foundations mattered so much.

Ethical living. Self-study. Breathwork. Discipline. Meditation. Awareness.

Not because the ancient yogis wanted to make things complicated, but because preparation protects the practitioner.

And honestly, the deeper I go into studying traditional yoga, the more I value slowing down and building solid foundations instead of chasing dramatic experiences.

That understanding is a huge part of why my 100 hour Yoga Student Training begins with the foundations of yoga philosophy and practice rather than jumping straight into advanced concepts or spiritual experiences

There’s something so special about the phrases that stay with us long after the class ends.
Sometimes a teacher says one simple sentence and it lands exactly when we need it most.

Mine is:
“Don’t accept it, don’t reject it, just hold onto it.”

A reminder to pause before reacting. To sit with things. To observe without immediately pushing away or clinging on.

Now I’d love to hear yours
What’s a phrase from a teacher that has stayed with you?

Yoga is not only for the days when we feel strong and motivated.

A real practice is something we can return to during pain, discomfort, stress, challenge, and change.

My practice looks very different right now but I am grateful I have these tools to support me. And lack of movement won't stop me from practicing yoga.

In this free workshop I will share tips and tools to help you stay motivated and dedicated to your practice even on the days when your too busy, too stressed or even when your body does not allow movement.

Comment PRACTICE below and I’ll send you the details for this Saturday at 10am.

I’ve gone back and forth about sharing this because I know it might sound controversial in the yoga world… but I genuinely don’t believe every person who loves yoga needs to become a yoga teacher.

And to be clear......this isn’t against Yoga Teacher Trainings. Of course there are many very good teacher trainings out there led by incredible teachers. I just feel like that path isn’t my path right now.

My path feels like creating something different for the people who don’t necessarily want to become part of the yoga “industry” they simply want to learn more about yoga.

Over the years I’ve noticed that Yoga Teacher Trainings have become the “next step” people feel they should take if they want to deepen their practice. But not everyone wants to teach.

Some people simply want to:
🔸️understand yoga philosophy
🔸️learn mantra & meditation
🔸️explore breathwork & energetics
🔸️study mythology & Sanskrit
🔸️deepen their personal practice
🔸️ask questions and think critically
🔸️live yoga more fully in everyday life

That’s why I created the 100 Hour Yoga Student Training.

Not to create more teachers.
But to support more students of yoga.

This path is definitely less marketable. A teacher training certificate is easier to sell and easier to scale. So if this resonates with you, I genuinely need your support getting it in front of people.

Please like, comment, share, save this post, or send it to someone who loves yoga but doesn’t necessarily want to teach it.

I truly believe there are people looking for this kind of space, they just need to hear that it exists.

Thank you to all who came to Anú Rising Together last night, such a beautiful way to move into the darker nights, with community & rest.

You can join the next circle on December 14th as we journey towards Winter Solstice.

My biggest takeaway from last night was how important rest is, and how much of a gift it is to the wolrd to show up as a well-rested person. We are nicer people when we are rested!!
