As genuine Republicans across Ireland begin to commemorate the 1916 Easter Rising this month, the National Independent Wolfe Tone Commemoration committee would cordially invite you to attend our parade to Bodenstown on June 8th.
All genuine Republicans across Ireland are welcome.
Wolfe Tone was a founding father of Irish Republicanism and an inspiration to the leaders of the ‘16 Rising.
PH Pearse , speaking in Bodenstown in 1913 said “ we owe to this dead man more than we can ever repay by making pilgrimages to his grave…he was the greatest Irishman”.
Pearse’s opinion was shared by Countess Markievicz who not only celebrated Tones Irish Republicanism but also highlighted Wolfe Tone’s internationalism when in 1925 she wrote “ link up the oppressed peoples and classes of the world was his cry”. Very apt when we see the genocide in Palestine today and other peoples suffering oppression.
The leaders and especially the volunteers of 1916 , the men of no property as Tone called them, fought for an Irish Republic devoid of foreign control and representing the people. That struggle continues today. We owe it to Tone and the men and women of Easter 16 to continue to seek a 32 county Republic as declared in the Proclamation.
James Connolly spoke of Wolfe Tone when he said “ we who hold his principles cherish his memory…..any movement that would successfully grapple with the problem of national freedom must draw its inspiration, not from a buried past but from the glowing hopes of the living present, the vast possibilities of the mighty future”
Let us look to that future. Let us celebrate the Easter Rising and lead onward to celebrating Wolfe Tone on June 8th.
Let Tone’s own words prevail :
“ Ireland shall be independent. We shall be a nation, not a province. Citizens-not slaves.

The killing of the Clonoe Martyrs founded to be unjustified. Just as British rule in its entirety in Ireland is unjustified. No British gunman has the right to be here taking the lives of young Irishmen, like the four gallant lads at Clonoe.
It's time they all went home 🇮🇪

National Independent Republican Commemoration launched.
Republican representatives from across Ireland gathered in Wynns Hotel in Dublin, in the very room where Cumann na mBan was founded to launch the Independent Wolfe Tone commemoration on June 8th in Bodenstown.
Despite the wet and windy conditions, Republicans from Armagh, Antrim, Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath and Tyrone with messages of support from Derry, Donegal, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath and Wexford gathered together to launch the Commemoration.
Wolfe Tone is the founding father of Irish Republicanism and his legacy and those of the United Irishmen needs to be respected and promoted.
By uniting around this commemoration, Independent Republicans and other progressive groups can ensure that the message of Irish Freedom and true Independence continues to be shared. We should never compromise on our vision for Irish Unity, the same vision of Tone’s, of the Fenians, of the Rising and of later struggles.
With over 5 bands involved, several guest speakers including John Crawley we will parade from Sallins to Bodenstown, the graveyard of Wolfe Tone with the full permission of the National Graves Association.
We invite all those committed to genuine Irish Unity to join us on Sunday June 8th .

Vótáil Clare Daly
We would encourage all Dublin based republican socialists to come out tomorrow and use your vote to reelecte the brilliant Clare Daly.
There is not a single politician in Ireland that holds both the name recognition and adoration of millions of people of the global majority who are paying attention to the dangerous and militaristic road our corrupt political class are dragging us down.
Clare Daly supported - in person - a number of events and initiatives we organised over the years and she has always been a friend to those who've struggled and demanded their rights in the occupied 6 counties.
Lastly, be careful who you transfer to. There are some unsavoury charlatans of low character running in these two elections on a left ticket who've done nothing the last few weeks but obsess over, and publicly attack Clare Daly at every opportunity, while throughout this time she has maintained her class and dignity, staying focused on the task at hand.
Vótáil Clare Daly, a true rebel and fighter 🍀✊🍉

📣Important information for upcoming 50th anniversary commemoration to Michael Gaughan, Sunday, June 2nd in Ballina 🇮🇪
Michael Gaughan 50th Anniversary Commemoration Assembly Point Confirmed !
The assembly point for Hunger Striker Michael Gaughan's 50th Anniversary Commemoration has been confirmed as being the Humbert Bridge Monument.
Representatives of Independent Dublin Republicans met last weekend with the national organising committee to confirm the assembly point and the route for the event to be held on Sunday the 2nd of June 2024.
The monument to General Humbert is a very appropriate place to choose.
General Jean Joseph Humbert let the 1,000 French troops as they sailed with Matthew Tone (brother of Theobold Wolfe Tone) into Killala Bay on the 22nd of August 1798.
Shortly after landing the French contingent were galvanised by 3,000 United Irishmen armed with glistening pikes.
The united force then marched to Castlebar to fight the common enemy, Britain.
During the battle the United Irishmen routed the forces of two British Generals sending them and their soldiers fleeing in what became known in Republican battle folklore as the "Races of Castlebar."
No doubt the bravery and commitment of the United Irishmen was an influence on Michael Gaughan.
The national organising committee are urging all Republicans to make their way to Ballina for the Michael Gaughan 50th Anniversary Commemoration 1pm Sunday the 2nd of June 2024.
The Main Speakers will be John Crawley, ex POW and Author of the bestselling book "The Yank" and Former Dublin Mayor Christy Burke, the lifelong Republican who was participant in Michael Gaughans funeral in 1974.
The national organising committee have commitments of the participation of several marching bands and independent groups from around the country.
More details of the event will be published as we receive further confirmations.
