Congratulations to the Republic of Ireland U15 side who played Australia today at FAI HQ at Abbotstown Dublin in what was a thrilling game with our home side winning 2:0. Some of our u15 team and coaches attended the game to watch and learn. Great communication, movement off the ball and controlled passing in a high intensity game proved a winner today. The players were also lucky to meet Richie Fitzgibbon, the Republic of Ireland u15 assistant coach.

Wicklow played host to Midlands today in the semi-final of the U15 Subway Plate.
It was the home side that started the brighter and went ahead within minutes when Ruari Jenkinson squared a lovely pass to Oisin Keegan who duly slotted home.
Credit to the Midlands who slowly dragged themselves back into the game and had the lions share of the next 15 minutes and eventually where rewarded when a free kick took a big deflection off the Wicklow wall to leave keeper Fionn Doyle stranded and the score 1-1 and all to play for.
As the first half drew to a close both sides had chances to go ahead, Wicklow’s best being a well worked Kieran Griffith short corner where Glenn Connolly feigned to lay it back to Griffith but instead turned in and fired a lovely inviting ball across goal but unfortunately there was no Wicklow player to slot it home!
Unfortunately for Wicklow, Midlands took one of their chances leaving the score 2–1 at the break.
Credit to Wicklow who took the game to their opponents in the second and had a few opportunities to equalise, the best of these fell to Mikey Nolan on the right wing but the Midlands keeper was both sharp and brave to smother the ball and s***f out the chance. The Wicklow lads continued to push for that all elusive equaliser but in doing so were always going to be exposed at the back and with 5 minutes to go the away team capitalised on this to put the game beyond Wicklow with a final score line of 3-1.
Hard luck to our lads who gave it everything and now turn their attention to preparing for The Galway Cup in August.

Wicklow U15’s travelled to the Oscar Trainor Centre this morning to take on NDSL in round 3 of the Subway Championship. The squad was missing a couple of regulars but started well and had a couple of early half chances, one from Captain Alex Power and another from Ruairi Jenkinson but neither effort was enough to over trouble the home keeper. As the half wore on the home team settled and played a nice passing game but apart from a few half chances they never really troubled the Wicklow keeper Fionn Doyle. In fact it was Wicklow who could and should have taken the lead when Cian Ryan found himself unmarked on a well taken Kieran Griffin corner but Ryan failed to make any real contact with the ball and the chance was gone to leave the teams all square 0-0 at the break.
Wicklow were forced to make a change through Illnesses at half time and had to re shuffle the team as a result but despite this they continued to keep their shape and play on the counter attack and it was one such attack that saw Alex Power break through the NDSl defence to force a good save from their keeper.
With the aid of a strong wind, The home team were starting to get on top and but for a great bit of defending from Daragh Higgins could have done so. With 57 minutes on the clock the home team did eventually break the deadlock thanks to a lack of communication in the Wicklow defence and they added another soon after when the aforementioned wind took the flight of a clearly intended cross, into the top corner of the net.
Wicklow pushed to get one back but left themselves vulnerable at the back which the home side exploited to tag on a third and leave the final score a slightly flattering 3-0 to NDSL.
