Very proud of all the students from the various Dojos who supported this.

This morning, I had the privilege of visiting the Capuchin Day Centre on Bow Street in Dublin City Centre, along with Tom Clements, to meet Fr Kevin Kiernan and to hand over a cheque for more than €2,000, raised from the raffle and Christmas party we held last weekend.

This did not come from my dojo alone. Contributions also came from Tom Clements’ Jishin Dojo in Dublin, Shaun Martin’s Shishu Dojo in Clare, Alex Martinez’s Kerry Dojo, and others who make up the loosely organised Namikai group.

This year, we chose to support the Capuchin Day Centre, a charity operating in Dublin city centre that prepares and serves an enormous number of free hot meals every day to people experiencing homelessness and severe hardship. When we visited shortly before midday, the centre had already been open since 5am, yet there were still long queues stretching down the street and around the corner.

The work carried out there is extraordinary, and I was genuinely humbled to be able to contribute in even a small way. At this time of year especially, many people are struggling, and if you are fortunate enough not to be, even a modest donation can make a meaningful difference. To put that into context, the centre provides breakfast at a cost of around €2 per person and main meals for approximately €5, so €20 or €50 goes much further than many might expect.

It is a sobering place to visit, and the people working there are truly impressive. I was delighted that we were able to help in some small way, and I know Tom feels the same. Thank you to everyone involved, and have a great weekend.

An amazing weekend of training and fun.

Sincere thanks to Noguchi Sensei and Mark Lithgow for coming from Japan to share a fantastic weekend of training with us here in Dublin.

It's hard to find the words to describe how inspiring it was, both in terms of the quality of Noguchi Sensei's teachings and in the efforts of everyone who came along, trained and helped create an amazing atmosphere. Thanks for coming!

Special thanks to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to bring this event together and make it go smoothly. Onwards and upwards!
