If you're looking to build muscle, increase your strength, or improve your overall fitness level, weights are an excellent way to do it πͺ However, free weights and machines can be intimidating for beginners so please make sure to ask for help from one of our instructors! They'll be able to show you the correct form and technique for each exercise, which will help you avoid injury and get the most out of your workout. Below are a few more tips to get you started with weights at the gym:
π First, always warm up properly. A good warm-up gets your blood flowing and prepares your muscles for exercise.
π Start with light weights and focus on your form. Proper form is key to preventing injury and maximising results.
πIt's important to breathe properly during weight lifting exercises. Exhale as you exert force or lift the weight, and inhale as you lower it.
πIf you're lifting heavy weights or performing exercises like the bench press or squat, use a spotter for safety.
π Consider booking personal training to receive one-on-one instruction tailored to your individual needs and goals.
π And finally, don't forget to stretch and cool down after your workout. This helps to reduce muscle soreness and improve flexibility.
