Congratulations to Jaye on achieving her 2nd Degree promotion yesterday.
Well done to all the students promoted from Grand Master Douglas Taekwon-Do Schools and Maynooth Taekwon-Do School.
After more than 4 hours of grading, it was a long day, but the support, encouragement, and camaraderie from everyone made it a great experience.
Another milestone achieved. Well done all! 🥋

At our school, every Dobok (도복) we give to a student is personally washed, badged with the ITF HQ logo and our club crest, and ironed before it is handed over. It reminds us of the importance of the Dobok and the pride, respect, and responsibility that come with wearing it. Seeing our students wear it with confidence and dedication makes us proud every single day.
In ITF Taekwon-Do, the Dobok is more than just a uniform. The word is made up of:
• Do (도) = “the way” or “the path”
• Bok (복) = “clothing” or “uniform”
Together, Dobok means “clothing of the way.” It represents the journey of learning, discipline, and personal growth through Taekwon-Do.
When we put on our Dobok, we leave distractions behind and prepare ourselves mentally for training. It reminds us to focus, work hard, and follow the Tenets of Taekwon-Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
The Dobok also represents equality. Inside the dojang, everyone stands together as students, regardless of age, background, or status outside of training. We learn from one another, support each other, and grow together as one team.
Come join us on the journey.

Proud day for us at the GMS # # Open Championships in Motherwell, Scotland today. 🏴 🥋
As instructors from Dún Laoghaire ITF Taekwon-Do, we were proud to represent Grand Master Douglas Taekwon-Do Schools alongside all the Irish schools who travelled over for the tournament. Together we’re coming home with fantastic results, great memories, and an amazing atmosphere throughout the day.
Aaron had an outstanding performance, taking gold in both patterns and sparring. His high kicks, adventurous techniques, and creativity really stood out today. He showed great composure and strength throughout the competition and we’re incredibly proud of how he performed.
Jaye showed great determination today. She fought through two rounds against II Dans in patterns before meeting a III Dan, European Champion in the final, earning herself a silver medal in patterns. Despite dealing with a meniscus tear in her knee and only got her injection on Tuesday — with just three weeks to go until her II Dan grading — she still took the gamble to compete and came away with a gold in sparring.
A massive well done as well to everyone from Grand Master Douglas Taekwon-Do Schools, Maynooth Taekwon-Do School, and Connacht Taekwon-Do School for the fantastic performances, support, and camaraderie shown throughout the day. The Irish support and atmosphere did not go unnoticed.
A brilliant day of ITF Taekwon-Do and we’re very proud to have been part of it. 👏
Highlights video coming soon! 📸
