Nestled in the recreational suburb of Dun Laoghaire in South County Dublin, the Royal St George Yacht Club is one of Ireland's leading Yacht Clubs.

The RSGYC was founded in 1838 by a small number of like minded individuals who liked to go rowing together. The Club gradually gathered pace and has become, with the passage of time and the unstinting efforts of its Flag Officers, committees and members, a world-class yacht club. Today, the RSGYC has a Membership of 1,900 and a full range of sailing, social and race activities. The Club offers a full bar and catering service for Members, Visitors and Guests.

🌊 We caught up with Conor Battigan, RSGYC member and co-owner of Goat Boat Tours as preparations were underway for a busy weekend in Dún Laoghaire.

Operating ashore from the RSGYC, Conor and his team were getting ready to welcome over 200 guests aboard their stunning custom-built Red Bay RIB for their signature Dublin Bay tours.

A fantastic local business showcasing the very best of our bay and coastline 🚤☘️

Sailing is all about teamwork, and there’s a role for every type of person on board. Tag your crew and tell them which one they’d be.

RSGYC ‘GET TO KNOW YOUR CLUB’ SERIES

Over the coming months, we’ll be catching up with the people who make life at the RSGYC so special. Through a series of interviews, we’ll give our followers an insight into the club - the flag officers, committee, staff, volunteers and members behind the scenes, and the roles they play in making the RSGYC such a great place to be.

For our latest feature, Ally sat down with current Vice Commodore Matt Williams to learn more about his role within the club, his passion for sailing, and some personal insights away from the water.

Stay tuned as we continue to introduce the faces behind the RSGYC! ⛵️
