🟢⚪️ TJ Moore Final | Muirhevnamor FC 🟢⚪️

Now that all the other Mickey Mouse cups are done, it’s time for the main event of this year’s Dundalk Winter League as Wee Celtic and Muirhevnamor battle it out for the TJ Moore trophy in Oriel Park. There’s been some great games between these two teams over the past few years and tonight it sure to be another classic in the home of football. Kick off tonight is 7pm. We hope to see you there. 🟢⚪ Wee Celtic 2-1 Coxes Throwbacks 🔴⚫

All roads lead to Oriel as Wee Celtic secured their place in the TJ Moore Cup final with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Coxes Throwbacks on Wednesday night.

Liam McStravick opened the scoring midway through the first half, reacting quickest to slot home after the Coxes keeper had parried a long-range effort from CJ. Coxes responded well and levelled the game just before halftime, setting up a tense second half as both sides pushed for a winner.

The breakthrough finally came with just five minutes left, as substitute Adam Finnegan fired home from a tight angle to put Wee Celtic 2-1 up. Coxes pressed for a late equaliser and nearly found one in the dying moments if it wasn't for stand-in keeper Rory Phelan who produced a crucial match-winning save to send us through to the final.

A fantastic game of football that could have gone either way, but thankfully it’s Wee Celtic who march on to the final. Commiserations to the Coxes Throwbacks, who once again pushed us all the way in another tight affair.

Now, the stage is set for the ultimate showdown between the two most successful Winter League teams of the last five years as we take on Muirhevnamor FC in the Home of Football. It doesn't get much bigger than this folks - one final battle to decide the TJ Moore Cup winners and the true Winter League champions of the 2024/25 season. The final will take place in Oriel Park on Saturday 22nd Feb with a 7PM KO and we hope to see you all there and in green and white. Hail Hail ☘

🟢⚪ NEXT | Coxes Throwbacks 🟢⚪

It's our biggest game of the season tonight as we face cup holders, the Coxes Throwbacks, in the Semi-Final of the Winter Leagues most sought after trophy this season.

We've had some great battles against tonights opponents down through the years and tonight is set to be another classic as both teams will be doing everything they can to reach the final. 🟢⚪️ NEXT | Kehoes Bar FC 🟢⚪️

It's déjà vu as we take on Kehoes Bar FC for the second week in a row. JPs Wee Bhoys will be hoping for a similar result as they deservedly ran out 3-1 winners last time out despite being down to 10 men for 70mins of the game.

Jug McKenna's men already have one hand on the title after some controversial league format changes left them in pole position for top spot. All the pressure is certainly on the Kehoes lads to deliver the trophy tonight and take it back to Quay street. On the other hand, JP is reportedly looking ahead to the game as a vital warm-up for next week’s HUGE clash against Neptune in the TJ Moore Cup – the premier competition in the Dundalk Winter League this season.

🟢⚪ 10 man, goalkeeper-less Wee Celtic 3-1 Kehoes Bar FC 🟠⚫️

📝 Against all the odds your beloved Wee Celtic advanced to the next round of the TJ Moore Cup by beating Dundalk Winter League champions-elect, Kehoes Bar FC, 3-1 in true underdog fashion. Going into the game the Wee Celts unfortunately were missing their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice goalkeeper which forced Manager, Leader, Legend, JP, to put on the gloves and deputise between the sticks 🧤😲

We unexpectedly took the lead but it was quickly wiped out as we headed into the break all square at 1-1. We regained the lead in the second half thanks to Jamie Farrell, but the celebrations were quickly dampened as a Wee Celtic player was harshly showing the red card minutes after we went 2-1 up 😔. A recurring theme against the dark arts tactics from Kehoes 🧙‍♂️

This left us with 10 men for the remaining 35 minutes and a mountain to climb if we were to progress to the next round. But the underdogs dug deep and defended superbly to keep the lead intact. There was even time left to add to the scoreline and we done just that when Dwyane added our third to send us through to the next round and end Kehoes 100% record that is no longer intact 💪🏼.

A fantastic effort by the lads sees us deservedly enter the hat for the next round of the Dundalk Winter League's biggest and best competition. The only competition this season that hasn't had any controversial rule or format changes mid-season 🤐 Enjoy the remainder of your week. Hail Hail ☘

After an extended break, the Wee Celts return to action for the first time in 2 months as we take on the Neptune tonight in Muirhevnamor. Both teams finished second in their respective groups and qualified to the final stages, along with Santos and Kehoes, to fight it out for the Winter League title over these next few weeks.
