What a day for Kilkerley AC! 👏

A fantastic turnout from Kilkerley Athletics Club today at the Louth Juvenile Uneven Ages & Novice Cross Country Championships in Darver, with our young athletes representing the club across the age groups! 💚💛

Beyond the medals and placings, what made today particularly special was seeing so many of our athletes out competing, including a few experiencing cross country for the very first time! 🥰

Darver was the perfect introduction to cross country, and with the ground conditions and weather on our side, we couldn’t have asked for much better! Hopefully, our first-timers have come away with a great experience and plenty of confidence to take into their next race. 💪

And a special thank you to all our parents and coaches for getting behind the club and encouraging so many children to take part. The turnout today was fantastic, and it makes such a difference!

Seeing the children put their weekly training into practice, supporting one another and most importantly, enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile! 💚💛

Work on our new long jump pits is well underway, and it’s fantastic to see the first phase of our club development plans taking shape! 🙌

Our Chairman and Coach, Peter Kelleher, is taking on the Dublin City Marathon to raise vital funds for the continued development of our club! 🏃‍♂️💪

🏃‍♀️💚💛 WHO’S READY FOR ANOTHER CROSS COUNTRY? 💛💚🏃‍♂️

After a brilliant day at the Louth Even Age Championships last weekend, it’s time to get ready for the next one! 👏

The Louth Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships take place this Sunday, 11th October in Darver.

This time it’s the uneven age groups — U9, U11, U13 and upwards, so we’d love to see another great Kilkerley turnout! 💚💛

If your athlete enjoyed last weekend, let’s get another race under the belt and keep the momentum going! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Just a reminder to all parents — competitions are open to ALL of our athletes. Whether your child trains with us one night a week or attends any of our training nights, they are very welcome to enter and represent Kilkerley AC.

🏃‍♂️💚💛 26.2 miles for Kilkerley Development — go on Peter! 💚💛

Our Chairman and Coach Peter Kelleher is taking on the Dublin City Marathon to raise funds for the development of Kilkerley Athletics Club.

He’s already nearly reached his €1,000 target, but we want to keep it going and see just how much he can raise! 🙌 Every penny raised will go directly towards our club development, with work on our new long jump pits just getting underway and plans for a 200m track in 2027.

Peter gives so much of his time to Kilkerley AC, so let’s get behind him and push that total past €1,000 and beyond! 🏃‍♂️👏

🏃‍♂️💚💛 Louth Juvenile Even Age Championships 💛💚🏃‍♀️

A brilliant day for Kilkerley AC at the Louth Juvenile Even Age Championships in Bellurgan Park today, with great representation across the younger age groups! 👏

Our U8s got the day off to a brilliant start! 🥉 Lily Carragher had a fantastic run in the girls’ race, coming home in 3rd place! 👏💚💛

Finn Lennon and Daire O’Connor were up next in the U8 boys. Despite both taking a tumble along the way, they picked themselves straight back up and managed to finish very strong! brilliant determination from the two boys! 💪👏

Our U10s were next to take on the 1000m course, with Alex McGeough and Matthew Mulholland lining up together and both putting in great performances, while Pippa McElroy also had a fantastic run in the U10 girls’ race. 👏💚💛

The other Carragher sisters, Anna and Mary, both had great runs too, with Anna taking on the U10 1000m and Mary stepping up to the U12 2000m — no easy feat! Both athletes gave it their all and did the Kilkerley colours proud. 💚💛

🥈 One of the highlights of the day came in the U12 2000m, where James O’Callaghan, Shea Kelleher, Thomas O’Connor and Oscar Sheridan combined for a fantastic team performance to take 2nd place! 👏

🌟 Shea Kelleher also produced a superb individual performance, finishing 2nd overall in the U12 race! 🥈👏

A huge well done to all our athletes who represented Kilkerley today. Plenty of determination, strong running and brilliant team spirit on show! another great day for the club! 💚💛

🏆 A Little Piece of Kilkerley AC History! 💚💛

Congratulations to on taking home the Presentation Cup for the Louth Senior Cross Country Championships for another year! 👏

This cup has a special connection to Kilkerley AC, having been won by the club a number of times during the 1960s — with 1963 and 1964 still engraved on it today. 🏆

We also have this fantastic photo from the Kilkerley book showing Kilkerley Athletic Club members with cups won in 1967.

🏅 Marathon Milestone for Kilkerley AC! 🏃‍♂️💚💛

A huge congratulations to Shean Doran and David Mohan, who took on the Galway Bay Marathon today and brought home the first marathon medals for Kilkerley AC since our relaunch! 🏅🏅

A fantastic achievement for both lads and a great milestone for the club. 💚💛

We’d also love to hear a little of our club history, if you know of anyone who completed a marathon under the Kilkerley AC banner before our relaunch, please let us know!

Tonight’s training included a little Yoga for Runners 🧘‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️, incorporated into our usual session.

We were delighted to reintroduce yoga into our training, something Coach Jodie used to regularly incorporate into sessions. 💚💛

Yoga is a great addition to athletics, helping our young athletes with flexibility, mobility, balance and strength, while also supporting recovery and helping to reduce the risk of injury.

We also worked on some simple breath work, helping the athletes learn how to control their breathing, relax and recover.

📄 We’ll be handing out our 15-Minute Yoga for Cross-Country Athletes guide at training next week, so the athletes can practise at home too!

A great days racing today at Drogheda and District. Well done to all out competitors: Mary, Anna and Lily Carragher, Micheál Corrigan, Shea Kelleher, Adam and Alex McGeough, Bobby and Sadie McShane, Faolán Mohan, Matthew Mulholland, Thomas and Daire O’Connor and Oscar Sheridan. We had lots of exciting races and great performances. In particular Lily who came 3rd in the U9 girls and Oscar, Adam and Matthew who came second in the highly competitive u11 team category. 💚💛
