🏁 IDS Laser Laois Forest Rally 2026 | Clare Motor Club Round-Up 🏁

A fantastic weekend in the woods for our Clare Motor Club members taking on the tricky stages at the IDS Laser Laois Forest Rally! Tough, greasy conditions tested everyone, but our crews brought home some brilliant silverware and milestone moments.

🚗 Finn Gardiner & Patrick Lyons

• 36th Overall | 6th in Class 21

A major milestone weekend for Finn Gardiner as he brought the curtain down on an incredible Junior 1000 chapter! Finn and Patrick navigated a challenging day in Laois to finish 36th overall and 6th in class.

More importantly, this result seals an impressive 4th overall in the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS) championship! A massive congratulations to Finn on a fantastic J1000 career.

With his J1000 cars now officially up for sale, all eyes are on the future—wishing Finn the very best as he prepares for the next step in 2027. Watch this space! 👀🔥

🚗 Dean Murphy & David Murphy

• 26th Overall | 3rd in Class 2 🥉

It was a brilliant maiden voyage for Dean Murphy on his very first competitive outing in the ETM Motorsport prepared car, guided by David Murphy on the notes.

Facing rapidly changing, tricky forest stages, Dean described it as a great day of learning behind the wheel—and the pace certainly showed! The duo pushed hard to secure a superb 3rd in Class 2 podium and 26th overall. A serious statement on day one, and plenty of positive momentum to carry forward!

Huge congratulations to both crews, their service teams, sponsors, and families on a great weekend representing the club out on the stages! 👏🏁

🏁 Podium Finish: 2nd in Class 14 for Padraig "Tyson" Egan & Tomas Ryan at the 2026 Munster Car Club / Cork 20 Rally 🥈

A slightly belated but huge congratulations to Clare Motor Club crew Padraig "Tyson" Egan and Tomas Ryan on securing a hard-fought 2nd in the National Rally Class 14 at the MRF Tyres 2026 Cork 20 Rally!

It was far from plain sailing across the weekend, with the crew facing a fair share of issues. A massive shoutout goes the Tyson and Tomas' service team - without their tireless work and quick turnarounds, staying out on the stages simply wouldn't have been possible. 🛠️.

It was also great to see Tyson listen to his own advice by keeping the car turned the right way up even if all 4 wheels weren't on the ground at all times!!! ✈

Also a massive thank you must go to COC Kevin O'Riordan and his entire team for running an incredible rally, as well as the marshals and volunteers who braved the elements all weekend to keep the event moving safely. 🌧️🙌

Good to see Tyson and Tomas back out competing and coming away with a solid result to show for it. 🏁

🇮🇪🏁 FROM CLARE TO VALENCIA — FLAT OUT ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE! 🇪🇸

What an experience for our Clare Motor Club Youth Academy members at the Tillotson Racing T4 Nations Cup in Valencia, Spain! 🏆

We are incredibly proud of all our young drivers who travelled to take part, represent their teams and be part of an international motorsport event.

Taking part in an event like the Nations Cup is about so much more than racing. It’s an opportunity to challenge themselves, learn from other drivers, build friendships across borders and gain invaluable experience on the international stage. 🌍

These two young drivers also made the journey to Valencia to support their fellow academy members, despite the disappointment of the Bambino class being cancelled.

That commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to support their teammates is exactly what our Youth Academy is all about. Motorsport is a team sport, and being there for one another matters just as much as what happens on track. 💙💛

From our Bambino drivers taking their first steps in motorsport to our T4 competitors taking on an international challenge, we are proud to see our young members embracing every opportunity, supporting one another and flying the flag for Clare and Irish motorsport.

A huge thank you to the families, teams and everyone who helped make this trip possible. These are the experiences that build confidence, character and memories that will last a lifetime. 💚

THIS ONES FOR THE CREW 💙

After such a successful Autocross year, we must now shine the spotlight on the people who make it happen.

Throughout the year, there’s a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes long before a car ever makes it to the start line.

Over the course of the championship, we’ve had Carrie Ryan, Aiden Connolly and David Murphy taking on the role of Clerk of the Course, each playing a huge part in getting these events off the ground and keeping things running smoothly.

Martin, Erik and Ger have put in the hours getting the track ready and keeping it in top shape, whatever the conditions threw at them. Tom McGarry, Triona & Brian Hassett have been there getting things set up, keeping the office ticking over and taking care of the jobs that need to be done before the dates are even marked into the calendar.

And that’s to name only a few.
Then there’s officials, marshals, timing and all the club members who step in whenever they’re needed. And there are plenty of jobs that never really get seen.

The drivers might get the trophies but this championship belongs to the whole club.

A massive thank you to every single person who has given their time, effort and energy to the Clare Autocross Championship this year.

It wouldn’t happen without ye. 💙

It was great to see some new faces in Doonbeg this weekend, with a Cork crew making the trip up to join us for their first Autocross! 👋

Behind the wheel was just 14yr old Keenan Murphy, with his brother Brendan A Murphy alongside him. And if you haven’t heard the name before, Keenan is certainly one to keep an eye on… 👀

This year alone, Keenan was crowned Irish Hillclimb Champion, while also getting plenty of experience competing in Rallycross.
Next season sees him take on the J1000s, and Sunday’s Autocross was the first event in his new left-hand-drive Toyota Aygo.

Despite being completely new to the track and the car, Keenan got stuck straight in and showed us plenty of what he can do! 💪

The lads had a great day with us and had this to say about their first visit:
“We really loved the track, it’s ideal for starting this journey with the new car ahead of the J1000s. The facility is brilliant and and for juniors especially.
We really enjoyed the whole day, we’ll definitely be coming back!
We’d also like to thank all our friends and family for their support, and a big thank you to Clare Motor Club for putting on such a great event and the welcome.”

We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Keenan’s progress and hopefully it won’t be too long before we see the Murphy brothers back in Doonbeg! 💙

🚨 BREAKING: DEAN MURPHY’S BUGGY IS STAYING IN THE SHED THIS SUNDAY… 🚨

When it comes to Autocross in Doonbeg, Dean is a name we’re more than used to seeing at the sharp end. 🏆

He’s made this track his own over the years, regularly putting the buggy on the top step and showing exactly why he’s such a force on the loose stuff.

But for the final round of the Clare Championship, there’s been a dramatic change of plan…

The buggy is out — and the Peugeot is in! 👀

The Peugeot has already made a serious impression on tarmac rallies this year, but things have changed since then. The car has recently been converted from tarmac to gravel, and Sunday will be its first taste of the loose stuff.

And what better place to give it that first shakedown than Dean’s favourite playground? 🏁

Dean will be using the event to get a feel for the newly converted car ahead of Laois Forestry, but we can’t imagine he’ll be treating it like a gentle Sunday test…

A 2WD Peugeot.
A loose-surface track he knows inside out.
And Dean Murphy behind the wheel.

One thing’s for sure — the final round is going to be some show you wont want to miss
