Off season work going to plan so far. Tendency was to spin the chest and lower body in transition and the arms would lag a long way behind. Over the last few weeks we placed a bit emphasis on delaying the chest turn on the downswing and after checking with Sportsbox we saw it hit our benchmarks. Today, we started to work the arms out more in front to neutralise the path.

Slide 2 is a small step drill we use to delay the chest turn and the goal was to hit a small fade with that drill which made the arms work more in front.

Great 2026 and 2027 will be even better 🤝👊🏼📈

Coming off a top 5 in her last event. Just tidying up backswing and start line 👊🏼📈

First catch up in a while - long overdue. Working on some pieces to help lower the flight ahead of next week’s Irish intervaristy championship at Carne Golf Links.

Also tidied up the start position with the driver and improved the arm / body connection with the wedges to allow for better distance control.

❗️Clubface at SetUp❗️
This is crucial, and often overlooked by players.
A couple degrees of difference in face angle can have a massive influence on ball flight.
Often players will look to their swing for these clubface answers, when they can be found at set up.
I would strongly encourage every player to check this square face position as often as possible

Working on a couple of key themes for this off season’s plan.

In his long game we are working on having the arms work more in front of the body (tendency to get behind from halfway in backswing) so with a visual for the left arm position and an earlier wrist set we are managing to get the backswing in a better position which has neutralised the path.

With wedges, tendency is to get quite inside and to slide forward to find the low point so we are working on posting off the left side earlier, reducing divot depth as well as keeping the club more on plane (stick drill) which keeps the spin axis neutral and gives him access to all flights.

2026 was great and 2027 will be even better 👊🏼📈

Hits a stock fade almost every time. Some keys that help this

- low handle at setup (hands inside shoulder line)

- laid off backswing allowing the club to steepen which encourages a more leftward swing direction

- very little depth at the top of backswing. Very difficult to get stuck inside

My favourite thing about this move is the constant motion before he pulls the trigger. Athletic and dynamic

Nice work done on trying to increase width and allow better rotation of the chest through the ball. This will stabilise the clubface and reduce the overdraw tendency.

We used a training aid to guide the movement as well as a one handed drill to build more awareness.

Great improvement this year and looking forward to another great off season.

Worked on tidying setup, keeping the arms a little more inside on the downswing and a quieter right foot to neutralise the curve. Looks good 📈📈

Always a fun time. Working hard on our basics (grip, ball position) and trying to develop the pattern of movement. Building a solid base (footwork) and a great first move are keys that we will keep up for years.

Adding in some ball flight training to keep developing the skills that will be the separation at the top of junior golf in a few years.

We train hard and have a good time 👊🏼🤝🏽

❗️3 Reasons for Long Backswing❗️

1. Arms too narrow at the top (band drill)

2. Too much radial in wrists (preset wrist drill)

3. Pivot excessive spine extension (some is ok!) (pause drill)
