🎉2026 FINALS NIGHT🏉

Friday last saw our fifth edition of our annual Tuam Summer Tag Rugby come to an end for this year.

We had four thrilling finals down for decision and there was little to separate any of the teams in each final. The results were as follows:

CUP: Beer Pressure 13 Funtanium 12
SHIELD: Table Twelve 14 Tap That Pass 13 (AET)
PLATE: Kilconly 9 Reapy's Recruits 6 (AET)
WOODEN SPOON: JFC Wheelbarrow Warriors 11 Ability Titans 8
BOWL: Genius Taggers conceded to Ability Warriors.

Huge thank you as always to our groundsman, John Carr, and his team for having the pitches marked and cut every week. We really appreciated it. Thanks also to our referees and lines people last week- Aaron O’Connor, Seàn Maughan, Owen Lydon, Brian Dempsey, Keith Fleming, Johannes Terblanche and Lorna Jennings.

Thanks to Tony McDonagh who recorded the cup final and also the wooden spoon and shield final. We had great fun watching them in Reapys after the prize-giving.

Thanks to Niche Burgers who were on hand selling their delicious food on the evening. It was great having you throughout the tournament.

Thanks to Lyndon Jones and Paddy Madden of Connacht Rugby for your help and assistance the last few weeks.

After the finals were all complete it was off to ReapysBar Tuam for the afterparty! A huge thank you to everyone who donated a prize or bought a ticket to our raffle on the night. Thank you all so much.

Thanks to our brilliant MC, Declan Slattery, who presided over the awards presentation and prize-giving ceremony. Also to Owen Nally from Owen Nally Photography who was on hand to capture the awards ceremony and indeed it was great having him at match nights also. Thanks Owen.

A big thank you to all our three host pubs who hosted us the last six weeks- The Brogue Bar & Grill, Reapy's Bar and the Front Room.

One last thank you to our tag rugby committee made up of Owen Lydon, Brian Dempsey, Martin Nally and the driving force of Tuam Tag rugby, Lorna Jennings. Lorna puts everything into the tournament to ensure it runs smoothly. Well done Lorna and team.👏👏

At our tag rugby prize-giving night last Friday in Reapy's Bar Tuam, we made a special presentation on behalf of Tuam RFC to two players who will be representing Ireland this year, in the ITF Tag Rugby World Cup being held in New South Wales, Australia in October.

We are very honoured to have both players playing with us in Tuam the last number of years.

Darren Geoghegan, from Funtanium, is no stranger to Tuam RFC through his sponsorship of the club in the past with Geoghegans Nightclub will be representing Ireland in the Mens’ Masters tournament.

Laura Reddington from Reapy’s Recruits, is representing Ireland in the Mixed Senior competition.

Our club President, Owen Lydon, made a presentation to Darren and Darren also collected Laura's award in her absence.

Best of luck to you both!🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

🏆CUP WINNERS🏆

🏆WINNERS: Beer Pressure
🥈RUNNERS UP: Funtanium

Well done to Beer Pressure who are this year's Tuam Summer Tag Rugby champions after an almighty battle with Funtanium who were chasing a third successive cup victory. Both teams came into this final after winning all eight of their games and topping their respective groups.

Funtanium started the brighter and dominated the first half and at one stage built up a six point lead but Beers Pressure put in a strong second half performance and fought back in a top class game of tag rugby to win by one point.

Well done to both teams and congratulations to Beer Pressure on their win.

FINAL SCORE: Beer Pressure 13 Tap Funtanium 12
