Quality of Life isn't just a value, it's something care providers should be able to measure, evidence, and continuously improve. 🌟
We were delighted to partner with Virtue Integrated Care, a group whose commitment to better outcomes for the people in their care matched our own ambition for quality and safety.
As part of the project we developed a practical, evidence-based framework for measuring and enhancing Quality of Life across Virtue's home care, residential care, and disability services, bringing together research-grounded KPIs, targeted Quality Improvement Plans, and a strengthened feedback system.

🚨Six regulations with high-risk findings across recent HIQA inspections in nursing homes. How many apply to your centre?
HCI analysed 15 HIQA inspection reports and one theme kept emerging. In most cases, the policies existed. The audits were done. The failure was the gap between what was written and what was actually happening on the floor. That gap is what HIQA keeps finding. Is it happening in yours?

The High Risk Areas HIQA Is Finding in Nursing Homes Right Now — And What It Means for Your Centre | Cloda Ai HCI analyses 15 recent HIQA inspection reports to reveal the high-risk patterns emerging across Irish nursing homes — and what providers can do about them.

Missed this morning's webinar? Here's what you missed.
Recent HIQA inspections of nursing homes flagged six high-risk areas: Governance and Management, Staffing, Infection Prevention and Control, Premises, Residents' Rights, and Health Care.
If you're a nursing home provider, the question isn't whether these issues exist somewhere. It's whether your last audit, your last policy review, or your last inspection-readiness check would catch them before HIQA does.
The full recording is now available — covering the patterns, the real examples behind them, and how Cloda helps providers close the gap between policy and practice.

A staff member needs to know what to do before transferring a resident to hospital. Instead of searching through a policy, they can Just Ask Cloda and get the answer in seconds.
That's what Tonia Nee demonstrated during today's nursing home webinar: Cloda answering real staff questions directly from your own policies and procedures, instantly.
Behind it, Cloda comes pre-loaded with 70+ best practice policy and procedure templates, kept current with the latest regulatory requirements by HCI's Best Practice Team.
The result: staff aren't guessing or searching. They're getting clear, evidence-based answers exactly when they need them — which means safer, more confident care.

The policy was there. The compliance wasn't.
In our nursing home webinar, Rebecca McAuley shared a Regulation 14 finding that stands out: a medication management policy existed, but prescription and administration charts weren't co-signed by the prescribing doctor. The policy was there. It just wasn't being followed.
The pattern isn't a lack of policies — it's the gap between what's written and what staff actually know and apply. That's the gap Cloda closes by instantly providing the answers staff need from policies and procedures, paired with comprehension quizzes that confirms real understanding — not just sign-off.

Completing an audit isn't the same as acting on it — and HIQA's findings show inspectors are catching the difference.
In today’s webinar, Rebecca shared a clear example: a falls audit recommended specific actions linking falls to staffing levels and supervision. On the day of inspection, those actions weren't evident.
It wasn't an isolated case. Across other findings: action plans without timeframes, previous compliance actions left unimplemented, and staff never told their area was flagged as needing improvement.
The pattern is consistent — audits are happening, but they're not closing the loop. For nursing home providers, the question isn't whether you audit. It's whether you can prove, on any given day, that an audit actually changed something.

HIQA inspection reports keep flagging the same red areas — and that's worth paying attention to.
This morning's webinar broke down the pattern across recent reports. The areas most commonly red-rated:
🔴 Governance and Management
🔴 Staffing
🔴 Infection Prevention and Control
🔴 Premises
🔴 Residents' Rights
🔴Health Care
These aren't isolated incidents. They're the same risk areas surfacing again and again, across different centres, different inspectors, different months.
The common thread? It's not usually a lack of policy. It's the gap between what's written down and what's happening in practice — and whether you have the evidence to prove it when an inspector asks.
Could your last internal audit catch these before HIQA does?
