Rusheen Bay Freestyle Frenzy & Regional Youth Event 2026: Event Recap & Winners Announcement! 📣

This Sunday, Rusheen Bay came alive with energy as we hosted the Rusheen Bay Freestyle Frenzy 2026! With 21 participants across the Silver & Novice fleets and plenty of spectators stopping by to watch, the day was packed with excitement, camaraderie, and unforgettable freestyle and slalom action.

The atmosphere was amazing, with lots of happy faces and participants eager to push their freestyle & slalom levels. The Silver Fleet particularly impressed the judges, with competitors pulling off precision combo moves at a speed of lightning! Sometimes nearly too fast to even judge all the action at once 😅

The day started off with freestyle action from the Silver Fleet. With the winners decided by 1pm and after a short break, the slalom action kicked off for the afternoon. Some fierce competition with a few photo finishes lead to a great battle for the title of Connacht champion 💪

📢 EVENT CALL – SUNDAY 30TH AUGUST

The Rusheen Bay Freestyle Frenzy and Youth Regional Competition is planned to run on Sunday from 9am–5pm.

Based on the current forecast, we are looking at:

🏄 Freestyle in the morning
🏁 Youth Regional Racing in the afternoon, as the wind turns southwesterly

We currently have nothing planned for Saturday due to the light northerly winds forecast.

More accurate timings will be posted Saturday evening and on the day in the event group chat. For anyone competing please message us to join the groupchat.

Rusheen Bay Freestyle Frenzy is back for 2026‼️

Registration now open on our website at www.rusheenbay.com/book (scroll down and click on “Freestyle Frenzy”)

The Freestyle Windsurf and U18 Youth Regional Competition will take place in Rusheen Bay on the 29/30th August with a rollover weekend on the 5/6th September if conditions require.

Get ready for some freestyle and racing action! This will be a 1 Day event with the possibility of a fun expression session after the competition or even on Day 2.

💽Gold fleet will be for planing freestyle moves like vulcan, Spock, flaka, and light wind freestyle etc

💿Silver fleet will be light wind freestyle and transitions like carve jibe, heli tack, sail 360 etc as well as fun races.

U18 regional event focusing on short races to get kids involved in a low pressure welcoming environment. Simple format to a bouy and return to the beach. U18 who book the Silver fleet can join the U18 fleet free of charge. Each participant will get to take part in multiple races.

In the expression session we will have a gold teaching silver fleet portion to get tips from the experienced sailors and hopefully upgrade everyone’s freestyle! We will also have a competition for bravest sailor and best move during the expression session!

Registration cut off is August 27th!
