Anthony Mc Donagh & Jason Mannion have been training on & off at Black Dragon for the last couple of decades.

They’ve been through a few different gyms with us and have now once again settled in to our latest home in Briarhill Business Park.

Jason last graded on the 29th June, 2011 and even fought for an Irish Title back in the day and Anto last graded on the 23rd November, 2008 and people still talk about his spectacular knockout in the Clayton Hotel many moons ago.😮.

The pair of them have a wealth of knowledge between them and are always delighted to share it with everyone they train with in the gym.

They always have words of encouragement and try their best to help others on their martial arts journey.

They are the type of people that every martial arts club want/need and we’re delighted to have them back where they belong.

The pair of them graded on Sunday just gone and their standards were off the charts.

Jason was awarded his Green Belt Cert and Anto was awarded his Brown Belt Cert so well done guys 👏👏👏

Some people grade for years and get so close to their Black Belt but then seem to lose their way and just give up.

It could be that they just don’t have the discipline or motivation or maybe they just couldn’t hack it or maybe they just weren’t good enough - who knows 🤔.

A promoter is looking for a 63kg pro Muay Thai fighter (adult male )for a show in the 3rd October in Hungary
The opponent is Mark Rehak 12 fights 9w 3L.

We had three fighters in action today at an ISKA Sanctioned event in New Ross, Co Wexford:
Taylor Sheppard, Amy Long & Patrick Birrane.
Taylor was first up and she put on a fantastic display of technical kickboxing which culminated in a 3rd round stoppage win.
Next up we had Amy Long take to the ring and her fight went the full 3 rounds with Amy winning a well deserved unanimous decision.
Patrick Birrane was unlucky and had to take the learning curve.
Well done to all fighters and big thanks to our travelling supporters.

Our Black Dragon Junior “Student Of The Month” award for June was handed out on Wednesday evening and the recipient was 8 years old Brian Mongan from Headford.

Brian travels in twice a week to train at Black Dragon and he will test for his Yellow Belt this Sunday.

The awards are based on attendance, technical improvement, manners & respect for the Instructors, fellow students and the gym in general.
