We were absolutely delighted to welcome Irish Senior International player Sarah Torrans to Greenfields this week.🇮🇪

Sarah kindly took time out of her busy schedule as she prepares for the up coming World Cup to visit our Summer Camp on Thursday morning. Sarah spent time with our young players, answering questions, demonstrating some of her skills, and signing lots of autographs. 👏

In the afternoon, Sarah led training sessions with some of our U19 and U14 players, delivering an excellent session that was both enjoyable and inspiring for everyone involved.🏑

We would like to sincerely thank Sarah for taking the time to visit Greenfields and for sharing her experience and knowledge with our players. Her visit was a wonderful opportunity for our young members, and we wish her every success in the weeks and months ahead. 🍀🏑🇮🇪 Connacht Hockey

A special thank you to our outgoing President, Máire Harrison, who over the past four years has been an incredible leader. She has taken on so many roles, organised countless events, and has been a friend to all. Her dedication and commitment to the club have been greatly appreciated, and we thank her sincerely for everything she has done for the club. 💚

Congratulations to Fiona Lillis Holland, who takes on the role of President. We have no doubt that she will do a fantastic job, and we wish her every success in the year ahead.👍

It was with great sadness that we learned on Sunday morning of the death of Jack Halliday.
Jack was a great friend to everyone within Connacht Hockey & Greenfields Hockey Club.

Together with his beloved wife, Marie, he was involved in the formative years of the club. There are many stories of the hard work that Jack and Maire undertook to ensure the club ran smoothly. 💚

Although Jack played most of his playing career with Galway Men, he loved to remind us that he began his hockey journey with the short-lived Greenfields men's team.

Jack played, coached and umpired, and throughout it all he was a friend to everyone. In his umpiring days, both at club and later at school level, young and old alike appreciated Jack's fairness and his wonderful sense of humour. If he missed a call, everyone knew it was never through bias. Jack would simply shrug his shoulders and everyone got on with the game. There were never any hard feelings.

More than 30 years ago, Jack organised the production of the club banner, which is still going strong today and is proudly displayed at all club events. The next time it is unfurled, we will remember Jack with great fondness and reflect on how fortunate we were to know and love him.

Above all, Jack was a devoted family man and we know his passing will be a huge loss to his family, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies. XX
