CONNACHT U 18 GIRLS had a busy weekend

A strong weekend for the Connacht U18 Girls at Lisnagarvey on Sunday, with the squad producing a series of competitive performances against Ulster, Leinster South, Leinster and Munster.
The team finished the day with one win, two draws and one narrow defeat.

🔹 Connacht 0–0 Ulster
🔹 Connacht 1–1 Leinster South
🔹 Connacht 2–1 Leinster
🔹 Connacht 3–4 Munster

The squad showed excellent commitment, discipline and determination throughout the four games, with strong performances across the pitch.

A very positive festival day for the squad and an important part of their preparation and development ahead of the 2026 U18 Interprovincial.

The Connacht Hockey community is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jack Halliday.

Jack was a dedicated hockey player and gave so much to the game throughout his lifetime as a player, coach, umpire and volunteer. He was always willing to lend a hand, support others and do whatever was needed for the good of hockey.

What many of us will remember most is Jack's smile, his great sense of humour and that unmistakable look of divilment in his eye. Even with a whistle in his hand, he always brought a bit of craic and good humour to the pitch.

He was deeply respected by all who knew him and great company both on and off the field.

Jack represented everything that is good about our hockey community, commitment, friendship, volunteerism, fun and a genuine love of the game. His contribution to hockey, both in Connacht and beyond, will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Jack's wife Marie, his family, friends, teammates and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Jack... the legend, the gentleman, the friend and so much more. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. 💔💔

Last game of the season and a proper way to finish it, a cup final with everything on the line. A lot of work has gone in all year to get here, and now it all comes down to one last performance together.

It’s been a full squad effort from start to finish, and whatever happens at 4PM, we’ve already built something to be proud of this season.

A big thank you to everyone who has been part of the season and supported us along the way:

💞 And of course our amazing volunteers who keep everything running week in and week out, we couldn’t do it without ye !

We’d really appreciate any support down at 4PM for the final, it means a lot to the squad !!

Finally, a massive thank you to every single player in the squad for their commitment all season, for showing up, putting in the work at training, supporting each other, and sticking together through every challenge and every result along the way. It’s been a full group effort from the very start.

We’ve achieved so much this season, from strong performances, big wins, and tough battles, to growing as a group and stepping up in key moments when it mattered most. Every player has contributed to that in their own way, and it’s something to be really proud of.

This weekend marks a goodbye for now , not a goodbye forever, just the end of this chapter together.
