Announcing Salthill Devon youngest ever female international!!

Erin McCartan captained the U14 SFAI Ireland team earlier today , when they played a pre tournament friendly against an U17 Athlone Women’s Select.

The Girls in Green came away with a 3:1 victory . The Associations Cup takes place next weekend in Limerick ( Friday to Sunday ) with the first game against Northern Ireland on Friday evening.

Congratulations to our 6 Galway girls who have made this years Schoolboys/girls Football Association of Ireland Association Cup 🇮🇪 what a fantastic achievement by the girls, we can’t wait to cheer ye on later in the month 🙌🏻🏆

Our Galway girls came within touching distance of National glory, only beaten in the final on penalties after an extraordinary tournament. While the result may sting, the pride in this remarkable team far outweighs the disappointment.

Group Stage:
Galway 5–0 Inishowen
Galway 2–0 Mayo

Last 16:
Galway 5–0 Carlow

Quarter-Final:
Galway 3–1 Donegal

Semi-Final:
Galway 1–1 DDSL (Galway won on penalties)
An epic comeback, capped by a last-minute equaliser in the 3rd minute of extra time, followed by huge composure and belief in the shootout.

Final:
Galway 2–2 Cork (Galway lost on penalties)
An unforgettable final between the top two teams in the country, decided by the narrowest of margins.

These girls showed heart, resilience, character, and quality in every single game. Never beaten in open play, conceding just 4 goals across the entire competition, while scoring an incredible 18 goals — the least goals conceded and most goals scored by any team in the competition.

The journey was filled with unforgettable moments, none more memorable than that semi-final comeback and dramatic equaliser deep into extra time that kept everything alive when it mattered most.

Throughout the competition, this team earned widespread praise for the outstanding football they played and the way they represented Galway with pride, passion, and class.

To every player — hold your heads high. You have done yourselves, your families, your clubs, and Galway proud.
