Well done to Ollie who put in another brilliant performance yesterday at the Nationals in Tullamore. Yet another PB in the sprint, 12th in Ireland! Just shy of his long jump PB, Ollie never fails to perform well and continues to gain confidence. Achieving a PB at the Nationals is fantastic, we are all so proud 👏 👊🙌 A well deserved rest now for the summer!

Coffee morning for Croi 3rd of July... come down for a coffee and a chat!

This morning we had our last session before our summer break! Lots of fun and games, water balloon relays, hurdle competitions and of course the obligatory ice creams at the end! A big thank you to all our athletes for coming to training every week and to all our coaches who plan and run the sessions. The summer will fly by and we will be back at it in a few short weeks!!

A special mention to all the dads today, hoping you all have a lovely fathers day!!

Triple qualification for Ollie!!

U14 put in an amazing day at the Connaught Championships in Sligo today. He started the day with a massive PB in the long jump, coming 4th and securing qualification for the Nationals!

Next up was the 200m, again a PB and 4th place finish, another National qualification!!

To finish off an already amazing day, Ollie went on the come 3rd in the 80m sprint!! 🥉👊👏💪

A busy summer ahead for Ollie, we are so proud of him and wish him all the best in the Nationals!!

Last weekend seen our younger athletes compete at the Connaught Championships in Claremorris! Having qualified from the Counties, our 2 pairs, Alex and Robert (long jump) and Eli and Alex (turbo javelin) put in some fantastic performances!

Both Alex and Robert achieved personal bests in the u11 long jump coming 7th over all.

Eli and Alex put in 2 brilliant performances coming agonisingly close to winning bronze, just missing out in 4th place.

The performance of the day went to U13 Abigail who competed in the javelin, winning g a fantastic silver medal!! Abigail goes on now to compete at the National finals!! 🥈👊👏💪

Super well done to all our athletes and the very best of luck to Abigail!!!

County outdoors day 2!

Day 2 of the County outdoors brought more excitement for the younger athletes in our club. With many of these athletes making their debut for Loch Lurgan AC, excitement was at fever pitch and the nerves were rattling!!

Our young athletes didn't need to worry! Well done to

Vivienne, Maia, Meibh, Ben, Cillian O'C, Cillian C, Jack, Daithi, Dara, Luke, Luca, Eli, Robert, Sean, Lexie, Emma, Vince, Samme, Philly, Isabella, Siofra, Eabha, Cole and Alex!!

The first medal of the day went to Alex, who, like his big sister Abigail the day before, won GOLD in the u11 turbo javelin!! Good news followed to announce both Alex and Eli had won a paired gold for turbo javelin! A very big well done to Alex and to Eli, both boys love to train for throwing and have a lot more to give in the event.🥉 👏

Later on in the day, we had another paired medal with Robert and Alex again, this time winner silver in the u11 long jump!! As this was Roberts first competition and Alex's second medal, both boys can be very proud. 🥈

Alex, Eli and Robert will go on to represent Loch Lurgan AC at the Connaught championships!

The county outdoors are the highlight of our athletics year and this year was no different. Well done to all our young athletes and big thanks to all the parental support and volunteers who helped out on the 2 days. The very best of luckto all our athletes who will go on to compete at the connaughts!! 💪💪🤩

The cold wind made for difficult conditions but all our athletes put in 100% effort and came away with some brilliant results!! 👏

U13 Abigail won GOLD in the javelin by a country mile, Abigail has a great future in this event! 🏅

U 14 Ollie won silver in the 200m and bronze in the 80m with a special PB going sub 11 seconds for the first time!🥈🥉
